Also, what do you think of the name in general? I know it’s “dated” but the sound feels nice to me.
Personally I prefer [name_f]Gillian[/name_f].
Jillian is easier for me to remember to pronounce correctly, and I like seeing [name_f]Jill[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Gill[/name_u].
[name_f]Gillian[/name_f] feels more open and welcoming to me.
I do agree with this, though.
I think [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] makes it easier for me to remember that its pronounced with a soft ‘G’.
When I see [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] I immediately assume its with a hard ‘G’, as thats how my middle name is pronounced.
Although, not many people seem to have this issue, most people actually pronounce [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] with a soft ‘G’ so I dont think its a problem.
I prefer [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] though, I just think it looks nicer
Jillian. It simplifies it for me. I knew a [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] in grade school who went by [name_f]Jilly[/name_f] and I always thought it was cute!
I know one of each - I’m partial to the [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] spelling because it just makes more sense. [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] reminds me of fish gills.
I like both. I pronounce them the same. Sorry I’m not much help.
If I had to choose I’d probably go with [name_f]Jillian[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]. I really like the name — if I had had any girls it might have been a contender
I prefer [name_f]Gillian[/name_f]. I like it pronounced with a soft G or a hard G.
I love [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] ! It’s one of my favourite names along with [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
Exactly what I was going to say
I prefer [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] as it makes more sense if you’re going to use the nn [name_f]Jill[/name_f].
Gillian can be pronounced a couple different ways and i dont like the look of it.
Jillian
I don’t think of [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] as dated at all, if anything I find it a little “preppy” sounding. I prefer the [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] spelling. [name_f]Jill[/name_f] is a cute nickname!
I prefer [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] with the shortened nn [name_f]Jill[/name_f].
I prefer the [name_f]Gillian[/name_f], but also think it’s the less likely of the two to get a nickname, so if you wanted [name_f]Jill[/name_f] to be an option than I would go with [name_f]Jillian[/name_f].
(You can absolutely still use [name_f]Jill[/name_f] with [name_f]Gillian[/name_f], but it may lead to needing to correct others when trying to spell out her full name.)
I love this name. I much prefer the [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] spelling.
It’s sweet isn’t it? I prefer the J spelling.
I think it’s so sweet! The [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] spelling looks nicer to me and I think [name_u]Gillie[/name_u] is an adorable nickname!
