I know [name]Joan[/name] sounds frumpy to a lot of people…but we both really like it, and love the nickname [name]Joanie[/name], which we would primarily use. We feel like [name]Joan[/name] is a good strong womanly name to use professionally, etc, in time. I like that it’s familiar and easily spelled/pronounced without being over used.
I don’t love [name]Joan[/name], nor do I hate it. I prefer [name]June[/name] or [name]Jane[/name], far and away, and I prefer [name]Felicity[/name] as a fn over any of those. But as a combo, [name]Joan[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is fine.
Good for you! I have to say I’m a bit in the frumpy camp, but I mean, it’s right on the edge of being not frumpy, and frankly I’ll take frumpy over a lot of the more nonsensical names out there these days. And I agree, [name]Joanie[/name] makes it lighthearted and cute in a good way for a little girl, and [name]Joan[/name] is definitely strong and professional! [name]Jo[/name] and [name]Jojo[/name] are cute possibilities too. Maybe even [name]Josie[/name] with [name]Felicity[/name] as the middle?
AND I love the pairing with [name]Felicity[/name]!
Well done on the whole!
I don’t know if you were looking for another suggestion, but [name]Jane[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] feels quite close and I think [name]Jane[/name] is a little fresher than [name]Joan[/name]. BUT, if it’s [name]Joan[/name] for you, then awesome : D.
Gorgeous!!! My husband vetoed this cause it sounds just like [name]Jon[/name] with his family’s accent. I think it’s a perfect name. [name]Joan[/name] [name]Jett[/name], [name]Joan[/name] of [name]Arc[/name], [name]Joan[/name] [name]Didion[/name]…I have reached the conclusion that all Joans are awesome!
[name]Felicity[/name] isn’t my style but it sounds good. I would’ve done [name]Joan[/name] [name]Bernadette[/name].
I like it! [name]Joan[/name] is more spunky, more approachable, than [name]Jane[/name], imo, yet more chic than [name]Jean[/name]. I quite like [name]Joan[/name] (although I admit I like it better as a MN), and [name]Joan[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] works really well.
I’m betting that the [name]Joan[/name] Holloway character on Mad Men is going to do a lot to revamp the name’s “frumpy” image. [name]Joan[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is a really elegant combo, I think.
I don’t think anything can bring [name]Joan[/name] out of frump territory, sorry. The fact that it rhymes with ‘moan’ doesn’t help. I don’t know…it’s just very heavy-sounding to me.
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Felicity[/name], OTOH, is lovely.
I’m actually a fan of [name]Joan[/name]! I would probably prefer [name]Joanie[/name] as a given name as opposed to [name]Joan[/name], and let [name]Joan[/name] be a nn if she ever wanted to use it. But that’s just me. I think [name]Joan[/name] is a great choice! [name]Felicity[/name] is NMS, but it does flow nicely with [name]Joan[/name].
[name]Joan[/name] is a great, strong, historical name and I think pairing it with the more light-hearted (and sounding) [name]Felicity[/name] is a wonderful combination. You should definitely use it!
Thanks all! I have to confess, we’ve both grown a bit attached to the name, and when I think of the baby being a girl (we don’t know!), I think of her as [name]Joanie[/name].
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] is not entirely out of the running, but I don’t have the same warm fuzzy feeling about it that I do about [name]Joanie[/name].
