We are expecting a LO in [name]November[/name], but won’t find out the sex of the baby first.
For girl’s names, we’d like to go with a “J” name for family reasons.
What are your thoughts on [name]Jane[/name], [name]June[/name], or [name]Joan[/name]? We would go with a 2-3 syllable middle name, such as…
We like the nicknames [name]Janie[/name], [name]Joanie[/name], etc, but I think there needs to be room to grow in the name once the LO has outgrown the nickname.
We area also considering [name]Joanna[/name]/[name]Johanna[/name] or [name]Julia[/name]. We really don’t like the nn [name]Jo[/name], and I could live with [name]Jo[/name]-[name]Jo[/name], by my DH couldn’t.
I love [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name], but they got vetoed! Hmph!
I love [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Julia[/name]. If hubby goes for [name]Julia[/name], I would choose that. [name]Joan[/name] seems dated to me even though [name]Jane[/name] is too. [name]Jane[/name] has an edge over [name]Joan[/name] though [name]IMO[/name]. [name]June[/name] is ok. I would choose [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] over all the names. [name]Julie[/name] is my next fave. If I must pick from the three you have listed, I guess it would be [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]. Good luck!
I love all three - particularly [name]Joan[/name] and [name]Jane[/name]. [name]June[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] ( [name]June[/name] is really shooting up…)are currently becoming more popular while only around 60 girls per year have been named [name]Joan[/name]. 2012 is also the 600th anniversary of the birth of the most renowned [name]Joan[/name] - [name]Joan[/name] of [name]Arc[/name].
Thanks all! We are Jewish, and will name the baby in honor of a deceased relative. J is for my grandmother who I was close to, and I would love to have it in the first name spot.
I preferred [name]Juliet[/name] to [name]Julia[/name], honestly. I do like [name]Juliana[/name] though. And [name]Johanna[/name]. But not fond of [name]Joanna[/name].
I think at this point I prefer [name]Jessamine[/name] and [name]Jacqueline[/name] to [name]Josephine[/name], but [name]Josephine[/name] is pretty lovely, as is [name]Josepha[/name].
[name]Jonquil[/name], I had always enjoyed, although people may deem it to “awkward” and “out-there” for a child, so I would pick:
[name]Joan/name - I don’t know why people don’t like [name]Joanna[/name]. It’s very pretty in my opinion.
[name]Juliet/name
[name]Jean/name
[name]Jolene[/name]
[name]Josette[/name]
[name]Joy/name
[name]July[/name]
[name]Jacqueline[/name]
and the lovely
[name]Jane[/name](or [name]Jana[/name])
Sigh! I wish I could talk DH into [name]Juliet[/name]! He says he associates it too strongly with [name]Romeo[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name]. I even tried the [name]Juliette[/name] spelling to see if I could trick him [name]Jacqueline[/name] and [name]Juliana[/name] also got shot down! Seesh! I do like [name]Johanna[/name] better than [name]Joanna[/name], but I feel cautious about picking a name where there’s a common nickname that we don’t love. (My husband really likes [name]Joan[/name] and [name]Joanna[/name] more than me.)
I love [name]Jane[/name]! I think either [name]Jane[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] or [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] would be fabulous. I also really love [name]Johanna[/name]–I’ve heard of [name]Josie[/name], [name]Hanna/name, [name]Anna[/name]/[name]Annie[/name], etc. as nns–do any of those appeal to you over [name]Jo[/name] or [name]Jojo[/name]? I think [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Fleur[/name] or even [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Flora[/name] would be fabulous, too, or even [name]Johanna[/name] [name]Olive[/name]…
I like [name]Jane[/name] (like the other I agree it is a lovely, timeless name) and I love love [name]LOVE[/name] [name]June[/name]. It’s been high on my list of girls names for a couple of years now. It has sweet nn potential like [name]Junie[/name] and [name]June[/name] bug which I love, but [name]June[/name] can still grow into a beautiful adult.
I love both [name]Jane[/name] and [name]June[/name] alot.
[name]Joan[/name] and [name]Joanna[/name] seem dated to me.
I love [name]Josephine[/name] so much, it’s too bad he doesn’t like it
What about [name]Julie[/name]/[name]Jewel[/name]?
[name]Jess[/name]/[name]Jessa[/name]/[name]Jessamine[/name]?
I really love [name]Jane[/name]. I think it’s timeless and classic. I like the sound of [name]Jane[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]. I also like [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name], but I hate the nicknames [name]Jules[/name] and [name]Julie[/name], so that kind of put me off it.
I like [name]Jane[/name] the most of the three. [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] is a nice combination. I also like [name]Julia[/name], but i think my favorite of your choices is [name]Joanna[/name].
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] is gorgeous. I have a daughter named [name]Jane[/name] ([name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] - she’s 2) and I’ve yet to meet another young girl with this name. I think [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Joan[/name]/[name]June[/name] would with lots of longer middle names. I actually think the longer middle names help balance out the short, one syllable first name.
I considered some frilly middle names when I was naming [name]Jane[/name]. Here are a few that I had considered:
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] (almost went with this one - my husband talked me out of it)
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Winifred[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Mathilda[/name]
I had to say I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]. [name]Beatrice[/name] is in my top three girl’s names and [name]Jane[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] is a stunning combination. [name]Both[/name] are so timeless and together it is a gorgeous name!
I really like these two: [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Joan[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]. Very beautiful combinations, [name]IMO[/name].
