[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Joan[/name_u] is ready for a comeback? It’s a family name for me, and I’ve always pushed it to the middle name spot, but I really like it as a FN. It reminds me of the spunky [name_f]Jane[/name_f] which is back in style but there’s something more subtle and strong about [name_u]Joan[/name_u] that I love.
What do you think?
Would in work with sisters [name_f]Annie[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] ([name_f]Annika[/name_f] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f])?
Totally ready for a comeback. I think it has a quiet strength and is quite spunky. I associate the name with [name_u]Joan[/name_u] of [name_m]Arc[/name_m] who was my favourite saint growing up. I also love the nickname [name_f]Joni[/name_f]/[name_f]Joanie[/name_f]. I think it fits well with Annika “Annie” and Rose “Rosie”. My little obsession with sibling name all being distinct in sound immediately picked up on the repeated ‘n’ in Annika and Joan, as well as the repeated ‘o’ sound in Rose and Joan, but I’m pretty pedantic! Stylistically they go together very well together.
I think it is ready! I think it would work well with your sibset. [name_f]Jane[/name_f]'s comeback has paved the way for [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. I like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] as well.

[name_f]Glad[/name_f] to have positive feedback for [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. I do have a slight issue that there is someone in my life named [name_f]Joanie[/name_f] that I wouldn’t want to think I named my daughter after her, but that’s not a huge deal.
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] was my grandmothers name and as a kid I never like the name but it has definitely grown on me and now I think it’s a beautiful name, I still find myself wanting to bump it to middle spot but I think it’s time for a comeback.
[name_u]Joan[/name_u]/[name_f]Joanie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] sound like sisters from the 1920/30’s and I mean that in the best way possible!
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] is definitely ready for a comeback! As you can see on my signature, it’s one of my favorite middle names. For me it’s kind of an honor name, but it also makes me think of [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_m]Jett[/name_m], which is a pretty awesome association.
I think there’s a subtle power and beauty to the name. It feels strong and clean, taking just the right amount of effort to say. I tend to put it in the middle spot too, but I think that’s because it really effectively balances longer, more flowing first names (like in my combo [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u]), adding a kind of seriousness to the combo. But I think it works just fine the other way too!
Anyway. I think it would be a lovely first name choice :).
