[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_m]Both[/name_m] are beautiful names, I prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]…or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f].
I didn’t vote because I don’t know how - [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] are two different names to me and when I pronounce them. Yes, they are variants of a particular name but I think you need to figure out which sound you prefer.
I personally prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] because it is more streamlined and feels cleaner. (When in doubt I usually go with the KISS principal).
I prefer [name_f]Johannah[/name_f]. It’s different and a bit more unique and fresher than [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] fits is wonderfully with the names from your signature.
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f] is my favorite, it seems fresher.
I can’t undo this: [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is one of my favorite names, but I ended up voting for [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] because the [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] spelling doesn’t appeal to me. But the more I thought about it, the more I still preferred [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] – no matter which spelling you use. So pretend there’s one fewer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] vote and one more [name_f]Johannah[/name_f]!
The “h” in the middle makes all the difference to me. It makes the name so much peppier. The only downfall is the number of pronunciations there are for it (I use the same one as you).
I prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but for flow purposes I like [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. The “uh-eh” flow is sort of tricky. From your sig I also like [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] or [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
@isolieth - That’s my main problem, the way that I say it sounds strikingly close to [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] though.
It’s funny, I actually first heard/found [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] thanks to a boy band - [name_m]Louis[/name_m] from 1D’s mum is [name_f]Johannah[/name_f], and I heard him saying her name once, and thought it sounded pretty, but, he pronounces it with a heavier ‘H’ sound than I do (Joh-hannah). I don’t know why I was attracted to that, but it did sound pretty - [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] came into my favourites a bit later.
I love [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] & [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], thank you!
I voted for [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], mostly because it’s my sister’s name! I will warn you that it gets messed up ALL the time (which is annoying to her, but I think you could just prepare your daughter for it a bit better than maybe our mom did ) she gets [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], [name_u]Jo[/name_u] [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Janna[/name_f], etc. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]!
I mean, the Duggars did both, so you can’t go wrong, haha.
I voted for [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. For some reason, [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] always sounds like it should be hyphenated or a double-first name when I hear it pronounced - [name_u]Jo[/name_u] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] or [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]. Maybe that’s my Southern roots showing through [name_m]Both[/name_m] are lovely names.
I forgot about that! Haha, I think theirs are [name_f]Joy[/name_f]-[name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Johannah[/name_f], but I could be wrong. I get what you mean with [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] though, the way I say it is just a more subtle version of [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]Hannah[/name_f].
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] flow the best for me. The ‘H’ makes it seem less choppy. I personally prefer [name_f]Johannah[/name_f]. It seems more youthful to me than [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], but can age well as your child gets older.
I love [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]!!
On a side note, I went to high school and was friends with a [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] spelled exactly that way!! She loved her name!! I remember her getting countless compliments. She went by both [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] as a nickname and the occasionally [name_u]Jo[/name_u] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] from her close family and friends. Usually it was just [name_f]Johannah[/name_f].
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] feels a tad dated to me, so I voted [name_f]Johannah[/name_f]. I also prefer the pronunciation
I am a [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], spelled just like that, and I love my name. I have extended family and people who don’t know me well who hyphenate [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]Anna[/name_f] or add an H where there isn’t one, but other than those rare occasions I have had no issues. It’s easy to pronounce and spell, and although not unheard of I didn’t meet another [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] until my senior year of college. Good luck on your choice, both are lovely options!
Truthfully my favorite is [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], but of the other spellings, I’d run with [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. I tend to go for more condensed spellings usually. Of the middle names I like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] best.
I prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. It feels more classic and elegant.
I prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] because I don’t pronounce [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] the same way. [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]SIL[/name_m] is named [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], pn [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], and it took me a while to get used to it, because whenever I’d met people by that name, they were either [name_m]German[/name_m] (pn [name_f]Yo[/name_f]-hannah), or said it with a pronounced “H” in the middle ([name_m]Joe[/name_m]-[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]), which I dislike. [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] will have spelling and pronunciation issues a lot of the time.
I love [name_f]Johannah[/name_f]. [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] seems a bit more outdated (I know a ton of [name_f]Joanne[/name_f]/[name_u]Jo[/name_u]-Annes that are middle aged or older). [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] sounds more youthful and sweet to me.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], mostly because it is the name of a dear friend whose sister is named [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. So that would be my choice but as you don’t like that spelling, it would be a toss up between [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] for simplicity and [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] because I like the look of the ‘H’ in the name. hmmmm … I guess [name_f]Johannah[/name_f] but only by an inch.
