Jocelyn or Joyce?

I do love old-school boy names, and these two are no exception. Deciding between them is proving to be quite difficult, so any help will be much appreciated.

They’re both too strongly feminine for my taste - sorry!

Well, in fairness, while I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that opinion, I didn’t actually ask whether you liked them for boys or not. So your answer doesn’t really help me…

I would say neither as both are very feminine to me and I can’t see them on a boy. Of the two, I prefer [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] - but only on a girl.

In all honesty, here in the states, a male [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] or [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] would have a difficult time especially during his childhood. If I had to pick I think [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] might be a little easier for a male to wear. They could ask to be called [name_m]Joe[/name_m] with either name. As a mom of a boy, I would not add this burden to my child. A child already has enough awkward stages to get through.

I strongly prefer [name_f]Jocelin[/name_f] - spelled like this. I think I’m more drawn to this spelling because I also love [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]. Not a fan of [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] at all.

P.S. I saw [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] in your signature and just had to add that I love it! The Finnish [name_u]Lauri[/name_u] is one of my all-time favourite boy names.

[name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_m]Lem[/name_m], [name_f]Josey[/name_f], Jozey, [name_m]Josh[/name_m] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], [name_m]Josh[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], Jolin or Jolen., Joyner, Joce or [name_m]Jose[/name_m],Both names are very nice but extremely feminine so here are a few suggestions.

[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] nn [name_u]Joss[/name_u] would be cute!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Joss[/name_u] and I think [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] is a great way to get to it! I think [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] works better than [name_u]Joyce[/name_u] but I love the suggestion of [name_f]Jocelin[/name_f].

[name_u]Joyce[/name_u] reminds me a bit too much of an older woman’s name, so I definitely think I prefer [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. But perhaps a different spelling, [name_f]Jocelin[/name_f], Josslin, Jocelen.

Like some PP mentioned, [name_u]Joss[/name_u] is a really cool nn!
