[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! I was wondering if anyone had any opinions about the name [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]? I’ve added it to my list, but I’m not quite sure what to think of it. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it? I say 'jossa-[name_f]Lin[/name_f]" but I’m not quite sure. Also, are any of these alternative spellings better:

It’s not really my style, but it does come with the nn [name_u]Joss[/name_u] which sounds kinda cool. You could also do a mn with the letter J and they could go by ‘JJ’ as another nn? I think when you change the spelling with an ‘s’ the pronunciation changes to more of a ‘[name_u]Jo[/name_u]’ sound than ‘Jaw’, so that’s another thing to consider

I love [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] as well! I say [name_u]JOSS[/name_u]-lin as opposed to three syllables. I won’t use it, because I have a strict no-unisex-names-on-girls policy (mainly because I have one and hate it), but I would love to know lots and lots of little Jocelyns to make up for that! :). I think [name_u]Joss[/name_u] (and even Jossey? Not sure how you’d spell it, but like [name_u]Joss[/name_u] with “ie” on the end. I knew a [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] who went by this, but I think she spelled it Josci, which I’m not keen on, but I love the sound!) are really cute and spunky nicknames.
I just noticed [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] in someone’s signature, and I love that! I’m thinking about the feminine [name_m]French[/name_m] form, [name_f]Jocelyne[/name_f], but I don’t know if that changes the pronunciation at all.
I really dislike [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] because it was almost my name. My parents almost chose this for me and I’m glad that they named me [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] instead. I find it very old fashioned.

I love [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]! I pronounce it the same as you, and I definitely prefer the normal spelling of [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. It’s a really sweet name. I have a 5yo cousin by the name, and know another 5yo named that as well. Also, a friend is considering the name for her baby on the way. Nn for my cousin is Jocie (pronounced [name_u]JOSS[/name_u]-ee), but I know of another [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f], a bit older, who goes by Jocie pronounced JOH-see like [name_u]Josie[/name_u].
I like [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] well enough, for me it kind of reminds me of [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]. It sounds lively and cute, but maybe a little dated if anything. I’ve never met one, and I would be happy to meet a [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] is the best spelling, but with the nice nickname [name_u]Joss[/name_u] I almost think Josselin would be cute, despite my aversion to alternative spellings. I think a creative middle would complement [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] well, something along the lines of [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] or [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. It’s a great name. Classic, strong and elegant. I like [name_u]Jo[/name_u] or [name_u]Joss[/name_u]. The only thing holding me back with it is the hissing sound of the “ce”.
There’s actually a character named Joscelin Verreuil in the series I’m reading - but he’s male, and a knight. 
I’ve therefore developed a soft spot for it as a,boys’ name, unlikely as it seems. Regardless, I love it. Definitely worth consideration. I’d certainly rather meet a,[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] of any spelling than one more [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Alivia[/name_f].
For what it’s worth, I use the three syllable pronunciation.
