We are expecting a baby boy, who we will be naming [name_m]John[/name_m] after my father. Middle names have been difficult simply because almost every combo of [name_m]John[/name_m] middle name can be tied to a well known person. For example I liked [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Connor[/name_m], which my husband vetoed because it’s the name of the terminator. We also don’t like overly unique/ creative names and we have a last name with a lot of personality.
We both finally agreed we like [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] but my question is- does it sound like we’re just naming our kid [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]?
Absolutely love [name_m]John[/name_m] he’s so simple, classic, rich in history and refreshing
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is also a timeless choice. At first glance the name feels just fine the connection to [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] didn’t immediately click however when mentioned [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] I couldn’t shake that from [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m].
Still the reality is middle names are rarely used therefore this [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] issue isn’t a major concern. I wouldn’t be too worried about it.
I think [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] works just fine! The “n” sounds do run into each other slightly, but that’s a minor quibble. I didn’t think of [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] until you mentioned it.
Congratulations! [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is a very handsome combo, and I didn’t even think of [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] until you mentioned it! The sounds do run into each other a bit, but I wouldn’t consider that a dealbreaker at all if you really loved the name. Middle names aren’t used daily or frequently, so [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] as the middle name shouldn’t be a problem.
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] works to me I did think you were going to ask about whether it was like [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] but then, I was trying to predict your question.
For what it’s worth, both [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] are solid classics that fit well, and most people won’t hear his middle too often anyway.
I love [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]! It’s handsome and strong. It also has an element of sophistication and softness to it that I really like. I don’t think the name sounds like [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m], To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have made that connection if you hadn’t mentioned it. I love that you’re honoring your dad, and I really love the name [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m].
I love [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]. I do hear [name_m]Johnathan[/name_m] when saying it out loud. I love that [name_m]John[/name_m] is an honor name for you guys!

[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is so handsome! I did not make the connection to [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] at all until you mentioned it. Plus, [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] will be a middle name and probably not used as much? Unless you’re planning on using it like a double barrel?
