John?

I really love the name [name_m]John[/name_m]. I am considering moving it from the middle to the first name list. I like that it is an underused classic. My other favourite boys name is [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. I’m unsure with would take first place. What do does everyone think of [name_m]John[/name_m]?

[name_m]John[/name_m] is a nice name but I don’t think it’s underused at all (at least in the US). It’s very popular. Like you said it’s a very classic, traditional name. I also think the same can be said about [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m].

I love [name_m]John[/name_m]! It’s classic, versatile, homely, unpretentious and sweet. I would love to see more little Johns about!

[name_m]John[/name_m] is a family name for us, so it holds a special place in my heart. I think it is handsome and a name that can fit many different personality types. I have [name_m]John[/name_m] on my long list but personally prefer [name_m]Jack[/name_m], which is on my short list.

I would not call [name_m]John[/name_m] underused, at least in the four states I have lived in, I have known/know/met many, many boys and men named [name_m]John[/name_m]. This would not stop me from using it though.

I think [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] would make a wonderful combo. Although you might not want to use two of your favorites in a combo.

I love [name_m]John[/name_m]! It is underused in that not many baby boys are named [name_m]John[/name_m]. Sure we all know [name_m]John[/name_m]'s, but not babies. I agree that it’s a handsome classic that’s great for any age.

I actually know/met many little boys named [name_m]John[/name_m]. And that does not count the boys named [name_m]Jon[/name_m], [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m], and [name_m]Johnny[/name_m]. But as I said, I would never let that stop me from using the name.

I guess [name_m]John[/name_m] is underused compared to historically, when it was #1 for decades and 5% of all boys were named that, while now it’s #26 and given to 0.5% of boys! But it’s still pretty well-used. No reason not to use it, though - [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u] are the definition of classics!

I also love [name_m]John[/name_m] as a fn. I have a co-worker who just named her baby [name_m]John[/name_m] w/ nn [name_m]Johnny[/name_m]. So cute! I also have a neighbor who named her baby [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]! I had to answer this post because Both names are simply fabulous!

I like [name_m]John[/name_m], and I did add it to my list, because of a couple of character associations that I absolutelt love. It’s not as popular now, or at least where I live, but it’s previous popularity was to such an extent that it still feels like there are Johns everywhere to me. I don’t even personally know any! But I’d consider it a classic, so I guess the popularity is warranted.

It’s still a good name, and I’d say use it in the first or middle spot, maybe with a more unexpected middle/first to complement it. It’s one of those names I think needs more time to filter out a bit and feel less saturated in general, even if [name_m]John[/name_m] would be pretty unexpected on a baby.
