Johnson as a first name...?

Thinking of naming our baby boy

[name]Johnson[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name]

our last name is a longer French name.

My questions for you…

  1. Id it ridiculous to have 3 “last names” as your name?

  2. My husband brought up thr fact that [name]Johnson[/name] is a slang word for a penis. Does that resenate with you at all? It didnt for me. Haha

  3. I want to call him “Johnse” ([name]John[/name]-zee, with the emphasis on [name]John[/name])

  4. Your honest opinion of the name

Thanks

p.s. Bro and sister are [name]Abraham[/name] ([name]Abe[/name]) and [name]Maria[/name]

Sorry is I offended anybody with question 2…just an honest question haha

I love [name]Montgomery[/name] but I’m not a fan of really common surnames (think [name]Smith[/name], [name]Jones[/name], etc.) being used as first names. I do like some surname names, but mostly rarer ones… though where I draw the line I’m not even sure; I kind of do it case by case. I can’t really see [name]Johnson[/name] as a first name. I’ve only heard the [name]Johnson[/name]/penis connection on Nameberry, never in real life. I live in [name]Ontario[/name], [name]Canada[/name] if it makes a difference… maybe it’s a regional thing? Johnse seems kind of awkward but it could grow on me.

That was the first thing that came to mind. I think it would be for a lot of people. I can see a lot of teasing in [name]Johnson[/name]'s future.

It was the first thing I thought of too.

I like some surnames as first names, but I don’t particularly care for [name]Johnson[/name]. I think you could use Johnsy as a nickname for just [name]John[/name]. [name]John[/name] would go well with your other kids’ names.

I’m in high school, and I’ve never heard [name]Johnson[/name] used as a slang word for “penis.” Believe me when I say I’ve heard an awful lot of things used as slang words for “penis,” but Johnson isn’t one of them.

That said, [name]Johnson[/name] really doesn’t go with [name]Abraham[/name]/[name]Abe[/name] and [name]Maria[/name] at all. [name]Just[/name] [name]John[/name] would be a better fit; a [name]John[/name] could still be called Johnsy.

I hate to say it but I thought [name]Johnson[/name]=penis right away. Maybe it’s a regional thing as I see other folks have never heard it as slang. I do like [name]Montgomery[/name] as a middle, though!

Yep, [name]Johnson[/name] is common slang for penis and was the first thing I thought of. If you wouldn’t call your kid [name]Dick[/name], don’t call him [name]Johnson[/name]. JMO.

Hahahaha…Dang. I guess [name]Johnson[/name] is out. I dont want yo do just [name]John[/name], because it was my Grandpas name, and my cousin who I am very close to is named [name]John[/name] also, after our grandpa. So I thought [name]Johnson[/name] would be fitting. But, if everyone thinks of male anatomy, then I better not.

Any other names you can think of for me?
Im not stuck on [name]Montgomery[/name], its just a family name and I thought it was cool but am willing to change.

I am looking for a masculine, classic name. Not interested in any -adens. Not looking for something totally off the wall and antique. [name]Just[/name] something old and underestimated.

Have been searching and searching for the right boys name and cant seem to put my finger on what I want.

LoveWaylon, but someone we know named their kid that.
I like [name]Charles[/name], but feel that [name]Charlie[/name] is becoming too popular.
Would be happy naming our son [name]Jack[/name], but too common.

I would also like it to “go” with
[name]Abraham[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
&
[name]Maria[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]

I never even knew [name]Johnson[/name] was a slang word for penis! I know a boy who’s nickname is [name]Johnson[/name] and I will never think of it the same now haha. I live in the UK, so maybe it’s an uncommon slang word over here.

[name]John[/name] has a lot of variants etc that aren’t penis slang.

Off the top of my head, how about [name]Johannes[/name], or [name]Jean[/name]-something (I have to admit I am a total sucker for this)

Oh, and here are a few names you may like.

[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Bernard[/name]
[name]Rupert[/name]
[name]Gilbert[/name]
[name]Walter[/name]
[name]Elgin[/name]
[name]Leopold[/name]
[name]Prescott[/name]
[name]Clarence[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Luther[/name]
[name]Chester[/name]

Yeah, I immediately thought of male anatomy whey I saw your post. Expect teasing with that one.

  1. Kind of, yes, especially when your first name is [name]Johnson[/name].
  2. Umm… It did not register until I saw this. I am scarred LOL
  3. Johnse is a very unfortunate nn.

[name]Johnson[/name] is to common of a last name to be used as a first name.
