Looking for names with an [name_f]Enid[/name_f] Blyton, jolly hockey sticks type vibe. I always think of these names as mid century, vintage but not twee / cottagecore, ‘clean’ unfrilly names with a brisk, slightly upmarket, outdoorsy feel (think rosy cheeks, mid century boarding school, lashings of ginger beer), and often nicknamey / come with a common nickname. Very quintessentially [name_f]English[/name_f]. So far I’ve got -
I’d also probably put [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] / [name_f]Jilly[/name_f] in this group but I don’t like it. [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] from [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] would also go well though it doesn’t quite sit with all the vibes I’ve mentioned, and I’m undecided about whether [name_f]Frances[/name_f] belongs.
What would you put in this group? What have I missed for this (admittedly quite niche) vibe?
Perhaps also [name_f]Judy[/name_f] (from Judith?), [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (though I don’t like Katherine). [name_f]Janet[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeane[/name_f] would seem to fit in one sense but don’t really have the slightly upmarket feel.
[name_f]Annie[/name_f] was my first thought. Maybe also [name_f]Roberta[/name_f] nn [name_u]Bobbie[/name_u] and [name_f]Susan[/name_f] nn [name_f]Susie[/name_f]?
Defs [name_f]Susan[/name_f] nn [name_f]Susie[/name_f] fits though it don’t like [name_f]Susan[/name_f] (but like Susie), [name_f]Roberta[/name_f] nn [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] is also great.
Perhaps (if I relax the unfrilly thing a bit), [name_f]Julia[/name_f] - [name_u]Jules[/name_u]? And was wondering if [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] fit too.
I’m not sure I’ve got the vibe down right but I think [name_f]Frances[/name_f] works.
