Jonas Ellis Michael - Flow issues!

So I have some combination issues all involving this name!

I have toyed with [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]. Which is further made difficult by the fact that we both have J names so we’re are limited to one J first name, if at all.

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is for [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] Island, he is American and I am Australian, so I wanted to acknowledge that given that he will move down under eventually. [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is after my father.

[name_m]John[/name_m] - My grandfather’s name is [name_m]John[/name_m], future hubby’s grandfather was [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] and his name is [name_m]Jonathon[/name_m], so it honours a few and is fairly traditional. Not particularly popular where I live either.“[name_u]Max[/name_u]” [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] is the only name on our list that really matches [name_m]John[/name_m] well and flows well with [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] as a middle name. The best thing about it, is it’s an easy double-barrel name “[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]” works so well together.

[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] - Name of partner’s grandfather who he was close to, fairly traditional and I like the sound. But it doesn’t flow well.

[name_m]Jonas[/name_m] - I really love this name probably the most, the flow is all wrong with [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] though and we’d like his nickname to be [name_u]JEM[/name_u] a la [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] [name_u]Finch[/name_u] (I am a literary fan.) It sounds cowboy-ish and works well with more of our choices eg. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_u]Walker[/name_u], [name_u]Colby[/name_u]. It’s also used in Germany which is my background and is not charting in my country. I’ve loved it a long time, but I am just very put off by the flow.

[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] - A compromise between [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] really. It has a slightly better, but still awkward flow and feels like a merger of the two names. It’s biblical like [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], but is also a lot more popular as well.

Thoughts?

I think [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] sounds the best. It is a bit clunky with the 2-2-2 flow, BUT what a handsome name regardless!

First, I love the reference to [name_u]Jem[/name_u].

Next, you have four strong options…

[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]

My preference, strictly considering flow, is [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]; my least favorite name for flow is [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_m]Micheal[/name_m] because of the 2-2-2 syllable count and the repetition of -s ending [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u].

If you plan to call him [name_u]Jem[/name_u] always, I would take the flow of the name into more serious consideration than what J name you use. If you want him to have your favorite name as an alternative to [name_u]Jem[/name_u], then let flow take a backseat (it’s not everything) and go with [name_m]Jonas[/name_m]; and, really, [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] will probably roll off your tongue and you’ll wonder why you ever doubted it.

I think [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is fine. The name is packed with meaning, and that trumps whatever flow issues the name has. As long as [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] sounds good with your surname, it’s fine.

I think [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is a strong, masculine combo. I like that all three names are meaningful and honor. And the three names seem to be meant for each other, they flow right off your tongue. You could call him [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_m]Johnny[/name_m], …

I love [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] sounds great!
