[name]Jory[/name] has been running through my mind quite a bit lately. I personally prefer it for the middle name spot, but what are your thoughts on it?
I love it. And it’s very much a boy name here regardless of what NB says. [name]Jory[/name] is amongst my favourite Cornish boy names and I like it in the middle too, but unfortunately it doesn’t flow well with my top boy names. I’d love to meet a [name]Jory[/name] though. There are a lot of Jagos and Jowans knocking around down here, but I’m yet to come across a [name]Jory[/name]
I love [name]Jory[/name] (although slightly prefer [name]Rory[/name]). I first heard it when @renrose mentioned it as being one of her favourite boys’ names, and considered it, but it was too similar to [name]Rory[/name], and so it had to go. But I would love to meet a little boy called ____ [name]Jory[/name]! Good luck.
I’m not a fan however I do really like [name]Rory[/name]. I think it would be nicer as a middle name.
I’ve only ever heard [name]Jory[/name] as a nn for [name]Jordan[/name]. If it’s the Cornish form of [name]George[/name], then I would use [name]George[/name] with the nn [name]Jory[/name]. [name]Jory[/name] is a little too cutesy for a grown man.
I’m not a huge fan, but I think it works as a name. I knew a guy named [name]Jory[/name], he was a frat boy, pretty cocky, didn’t like him at all, so I imagine a cocky, party, player type guy when I hear [name]Jory[/name] since that’s the first [name]Jory[/name] I met. (His full name might have been [name]Jordan[/name], but he only ever went by [name]Jory[/name], so I don’t know)
The only time I have ever heard of the name [name]Jory[/name] is in VC Andrews novel “If There Be Thorns” which is part of the “Flowers in the Attic” series. The character is named after his father [name]Julian[/name] and his uncle [name]Cory[/name] - which made [name]Jory[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t know how many people would associate the name with that series…
I love [name]Jory[/name] It’s currently my favourite boys name. I have it down as a nickname for [name]Joseph[/name] but I love that it can be its own name too
I’m also a fan of [name]Jago[/name].
I know a woman named [name]Jory[/name], so it is hard for me to see on a boy. I love [name]Rory[/name]!
I thought of @renrose’s list, too. I just love the idea of [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Rory[/name] nn [name]Jory[/name]! I personally prefer [name]Rory[/name], but I think [name]Jory[/name] is refreshing and interesting. I also love @mischa’s idea of [name]George[/name] nn [name]Jory[/name].
I love it - I have a soft spot for Cornish names.
I find it very appealing. Would love to name a kid [name]George[/name] nn [name]Jory[/name]
I think [name]Jory[/name] is very nice, refreshing, laidback and über cool.
[name]Jory[/name] is cute!
[name]Lovely[/name] as a nn, really like the suggestions of [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Rory[/name] & [name]George[/name]. [name]John[/name] [name]Gregory[/name], or even [name]James[/name] [name]Gregory[/name], could also work.
Thank you to everyone who has replied. I love the idea of [name]George[/name] nn [name]Jory[/name], and renrose’s combinations of [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Rory[/name] - I’ve never been a fan of [name]Rory[/name], but I love it after [name]Joseph[/name]. [name]John[/name] [name]Gregory[/name] and [name]James[/name] [name]Gregory[/name] are also handsome.
I also have a soft spot for [name]Jago[/name].
I’ve only ever heard this name once before. I think it was a boy’s name. I’m not sure if I personally like it, but I can see it on a boy.
[name]Jory[/name] is my brother’s name It’s actually his middle name, though, because they thought it was too nickname-y to use it as his full first name & they didn’t like [name]Jordan[/name]. He’s always been called [name]Jory[/name], though, never his first name.
I was never too fond of the name, but lately it has been growing on me! I don’t think I would use it as a full name and I don’t like [name]Jordan[/name], so I’m not sure how I would use it.
So excited to here of a real life [name]Jory[/name]! [name]Even[/name] if it is only his middle name.
