Josefina for a non hispanic family, what do you think? or Olivia ..but too popular ???

I love [name]Josefina[/name] but I dont know if it sound too old fashioned or too spanish…I like [name]Jossie[/name] as a first name too and [name]Olivia[/name] but is too popular…what do you think she would prefer?I am thinking about school…and teasing…

If you’re pronouncing it with an H rather than a J sound, then it might be a little too Spanish if you don’t anticipate her ever learning to speak Spanish, but if you’re pronouncing it like [name]Josephina[/name], then I think it’s totally fine.
I think [name]Josefina[/name] is lovely!

I think they’re both lovely! I agree if you just pronounce it like [name]Josephina[/name], it really wouldn’t seem too Spanish. You might consider spelling it [name]Josephina[/name] which separates it even further from a heavy Spanish feel (imo).

I love [name]Olivia[/name], too, though. I don’t think you could really go wrong with either.

Good luck!

I just saw ap little girl named [name]Josephine[/name] and she wasn’t hispanic. The name fit her well.

I agree with the PP, as long as you are using the english pronunciation it doesn’t seem too spanish at all. It’s actually really elegant. As for teasing, I hardly think that will be an issue. More and more kids are being given unsual names now. My friends (and younger siblings friends) seem to have more complaints about having a common name.
