This was NOT on our list, but we are overdue and are still undecided so DH is starting to just throw naming to me
Anyway WDYT of [name]Josephine[/name] with our [name]Violet[/name] and [name]George[/name]? We would call her [name]Posey[/name], and MN would be [name]Rose[/name]. Last name is P-son. [name]Posey[/name] P-son, is it too much? I was trying to avoid P names, but I like so many of them! [name]Posey[/name] with [name]Violet[/name] too much? [name]How[/name] hard will it be to keep people from calling her [name]Joe[/name]? ATM, both my little sister AND brother are dating "[name]Joe[/name]"s - too much? Clearly lots of issues here.
So:
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Rose[/name] P-son, NN [name]Posey[/name].
[name]LOVE[/name] it. I can’t use it because of an ex, so I love to see it on others’ lists. I don’t love the nn [name]Posey[/name], especially with the last name. It’s likely that some of her friends might try to call her [name]Jo[/name], but if she always introduces herself as [name]Posey[/name], she could avoid it. What about [name]Josie[/name]? It’s cute, but she’s stand apart from the other Joes in the family.
I’ve always like [name]Josephine[/name], but I can’t say the same for [name]Posey[/name]. I like [name]Josey[/name]. It’s hard to predict nicknames too. The parents may call her [name]Posey[/name], but maybe her friends in school will call her [name]Joe[/name] or [name]Josey[/name]…and maybe that is what she will prefer to be called. My name is [name]Crystal[/name]. My sisters called me [name]Chris[/name] alot. My Dad always calls me [name]Crissy[/name]…even to this day and I’m in my 30’s.
We call DS [name]Georgie[/name] - not that he will prefer it eventually I’m sure, but definitely too close to [name]Josey[/name] [name]IMO[/name], right?
I like [name]Josephine[/name], nn [name]Josie[/name], but not so much nn [name]Posey[/name]. [name]Posey[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] is also a little flowery of a combo for my tastes.
As for the [name]Jo[/name] issue - like someone else said I think if she always introduces herself as [name]Posey[/name] then it won’t be an issue. But if she introduces herself as [name]Josephine[/name], or even as [name]Josie[/name], there’s a chance people will call her [name]Jo[/name].
[name]Josephine[/name] is my favorite name so Im biased, I think its great! I dont care for [name]Posey[/name], its too cutesy but even if I liked it I dont think it goes well with another P name. I wouldnt worry about someone dating a [name]Joe[/name] now or keeping people from calling her [name]Joe[/name], just tell them her name isnt [name]Joe[/name].
I think [name]Josephine[/name] fits well with your sibset. Although I do prefer [name]Josie[/name] as a nn, I don’t mind [name]Posey[/name]-- but it is a little flowery with [name]Violet[/name].
I absolutely love [name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Posey[/name]! [name]Josephine[/name] has always seemed a bit too classic for a FN for my list, but lately I’ve been considering it just so I could use [name]Posey[/name]–I absolutely love that!
[name]Violet[/name], [name]George[/name], and [name]Posey[/name] are cute. I do think [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Posey[/name] could be seen as a bit matchy but since the full name would be [name]Josephine[/name] I don’t think it matters much. And I absolutely love the alliteration of [name]Posey[/name] P-son! [name]One[/name] of my best friends a few years ago had the ln [name]Posey[/name], actually, and her FN started with a P, and she had so much fun with her alliterative name. I think [name]Posey[/name] P-son would be so much fun to have.
I think if you consistently use [name]Posey[/name], she won’t really have to worry about being a [name]Jo[/name], and I wouldn’t worry about the connection to your siblings’ SOs–I don’t know how serious their relationships are, obviously, but I don’t think it’d be a huge deal. [name]Even[/name] if they do end up marrying into the family, your daughter would likely be [name]Posey[/name], right? So I don’t think it would be a huge issue.
What are your other options, if I may ask? [name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Posey[/name] just seems perfect, so I’m curious to see what else you’ve considered, haha.
I love, love, love the name [name]Josephine[/name]. My one-month old daughter is named [name]Josephine[/name]. I have no regrets, but I do wish people would stop asking me what I am planning on calling her. While I love most of the nicknames for [name]Josephine[/name], why can’t they just call her that unless I tell them otherwise? It seems like they assume I won’t call her by her first name. Sorry, rant here. Of the nicknames, [name]Jo[/name] is my favorite and [name]Posey[/name] my least. I think while she’s little at least, you can stop people from calling her [name]Jo[/name].
Haha, it seems like we’ve considered every.other.name that exists. Seriously considered: [name]Louise[/name], [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Alice[/name]. Some of these might still be on the list
Ooh! Well, I think [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] are both very pretty with [name]Violet[/name] and [name]George[/name], too. I absolutely love [name]Sarah[/name], too–it seems a bit mismatched compared to your other options, but honestly [name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Posey[/name] is my favorite! It’s just perfect, imo.
I really like the name [name]Josephine[/name], but I would use the nn [name]Josie[/name]. I don’t really like [name]Posey[/name] with your last name or with big sister [name]Violet[/name]. It think having rose as the mn is enough to tie the two together :). I also think [name]Hazel[/name] would make a lovely sib set as well. Not a fan of louise but looove [name]Louisa[/name]. [name]Alice[/name] is cute too!
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Posey[/name]… or [name]Posy[/name] or [name]Poesy[/name]. Loved it since I was a child and read The Ballet Shoes by [name]Noel[/name] Streatfeild.
If you’re not so hot on [name]Josephine[/name] but love the nn [name]Posey[/name], you can look at [name]Rosemary[/name]. I don’t know how for sure, but [name]Posy[/name] is also a nn for [name]Rosemary[/name]. (maybe from [name]Rosie[/name]-[name]Posie[/name]…)
I like [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]George[/name]…
Maybe something like Rosemary Eleanor… to go with Isabelle and Quincy.
I [name]DO[/name] like [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]TY[/name] for the suggestion. [name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is gorgeous.
I actually [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] too I’m just absolutely certain that my family (and DH’s) will undoubtedly call her a NN, … and I [name]DON[/name]'T want the other NNs for [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Josie[/name] or [name]Jo[/name], so I’m hoping to avoid that problem
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]!
There is always a possiblity someone will try to shorten it to [name]Jo[/name], but if you correct them early on it shouldn’t be a problem.
I have a friend, [name]Jacob[/name] and he corrects people pretty fast if they try and call him [name]Jake[/name] or [name]Jay[/name].
[name]Violet[/name] and [name]Posey[/name] are cute but I wouldn’t use it all the time as it kind of makes [name]George[/name] stick out strangely.
