Josie vs Kate?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering, what vibes do you get off [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?
Also, which do you prefer and why?
[name_u]Josie[/name_u] would be short for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] would either be as a stand alone, or as a nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].
I have stronger family connections to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] “Josie”, but I love [name_f]Kate[/name_f] both by itself and as a nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].
Also, which feels more classic between [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?

Thank you!

Side Note:

Thanks to everyone who answered my question regarding classic and traditional names yesterday - a lot of the suggestions were what I was looking for, so I’ve made a note of my favourites

josie is my favorite here for sure! i get like a classic but cool vibe from it, like not so much grandma as cool great aunt who travels the world and always looks good and keeps a neat garden or something. kate, for me, reminds me of all the girls my age with the name in the early 2000s so it doesn’t feel as alluring or interesting as josie. katherine and josephine are both so beautiful but josephine and josie really win for me!

[name_f]Kate[/name_f]: It feels mature, sophisticated, a bit sporty, funny in a subtle witty way, and very put together but still feels youthful enough for a kid too especially with the nn potential of [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. I get bright blue and green energy, sky and cobalt blue with kelly/grass green and a small sprinkle of sunshine yellow. A soccer field under a clear sky with a white and yellow ball? But also wearing a classy tan trench coat and oxford shoes while sitting under a tree in the park next to some spring flowers like daffodils or crocuses and reading some sort of non-fiction book, possibly a funny and thought provoking memoir or about a subject she’s deeply interested in (which in my mind is likely somewhat STEM related). (copy and pasted from a previous post that might have been yours)
[name_u]Josie[/name_u]: Simultaneously pink tutus and skater girl punk. Very girly and sweet but also has a bit of an edge to it. Bubblegum and hot pink roller skates with a beat up leather jacket. [name_f]Sassy[/name_f] and fun.

Also, which do you prefer and why?
This is a tough call. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is on my list and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] isn’t but that’s because I can’t use Kate/Katherine so its just not on my radar and not because I don’t like it. I think my vote still goes to [name_u]Josie[/name_u] because I’ve known a lot of Kate/Katie/Katelyn/Katherine/etc. (I once counted how many I knew just within a few years of me and hit 14, 6 of which were in my grade alone) so [name_u]Josie[/name_u] wins out by just a tiny edge because it feels more uncommon.

Also, which feels more classic between [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?
On their own? [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
As nicknames for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]? Equal but [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is maybe a little more timeless.

I love both [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and think they are both timeless and elegant and feel very regal .

Personally I prefer [name_f]Kate[/name_f] ! No reason why because they are both beautiful. I think [name_f]Kate[/name_f] was more popular when I was growing up but [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is more popular now.

I like both names, but I think [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is more timeless/classic than [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. It’s had less ebb & flow in popularity (at least as a stand alone name) and it feels more solid. However, I adore both [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], and if you have family ties to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], that may give it the edge.

There’s also family tie to a [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] but I’m not sure how well we really knew here. Have strong family ties to [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] as well, but [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is more my style

Tricky! I prefer Josephine over Katherine (and all similar names) but Kate over Josie. They’re both classics just Katherine has more Brit vibe to me (strong and assertive, hearty laugh, rower vibes) Josephine, more Frenchy (arty, chic, bookish and a bit poncy).

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] is sparky, sweet and cosy with a bit of spark and kick too!!

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is strong, solid and friendly, a hint of ruggedness but easily refined too

Much prefer [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a stand-alone. [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is a too casual / twee for my tastes. [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is very elegant.

[name_u]Josie[/name_u] feels sweet and vintage, like sunshine and picnics in green fields filled with daisies :blossom: [name_f]Tea[/name_f] dresses, macaroons, little kids playing sports outside until the sun sets.

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] to me feels buttoned up and serious, a pencil skirt or a maxi dress, a well-tended graden, a mug of tea still steaming.

I personally prefer [name_u]Josie[/name_u] since [name_f]Kate[/name_f] has an older image to me!
