Joya

What are your thoughts on the name [name]Joya[/name]? Is it usable or too made up sounding? I love the meaning of the word joy, so I like how that is tied in here but it isn’t as simple as using just [name]Joy[/name]. What are some middle names that you think could work with this? Thanks!

I’d say it’s usable, but it looks a bit too much like Soya for me. It would also possibly have a few pronunciation problems, like ‘[name]JOE[/name]-yah?’ but that might not bother you.

[name]Joya[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Lilian[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name]

[name]Love[/name] it! But I prefer [name]Gioia[/name]- same pronunciation, but it’s Italian for [name]Joy[/name].

[name]Gioia[/name] [name]Jeanne[/name]- nn [name]Gigi[/name] has been the combo I’ve considered.

[name]Joya[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Catalina[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Devon[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Lorraine[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Suzette[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Wilhelmina[/name]

I think it’s so sweet & simple yet unexpected!

[name]Joya[/name] is very pretty. [name]Gioia[/name] is the same with Italian spelling, but I found out that in [name]India[/name] the [name]Joya[/name] spelling (obviously it is written in Hindi or other languages there, I mean what the English translation looks like) is used.

Some middle name options:

[name]Joya[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Marianne[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Finch[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Caterina[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Henriette[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Susanne[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]

I think it’s very pretty! I knew a girl by this name growing up though she spelt it [name]Joia[/name]. Definitely beautiful and usable!

I would definitely prefer just [name]Joy[/name], but I think [name]Joya[/name] would be useable.

[name]Joya[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] (I know a little [name]Joy[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] and think it’s lovely)
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] Lynae
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Kristine[/name]

I like just [name]Joy[/name]. [name]Joya[/name] is nice. What about [name]Joelle[/name]? [name]Joya[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is pretty

Yes-- I suggested this name to another poster last week since it’s lovely. It’s a Sanskrit name and it’s spelt [name]Joia[/name], though pronounced [name]Joy[/name]-a. There’s a very inspiring woman named [name]Joia[/name] Mukherjee, whom I admire very much, if you’d like an uplifting namesake.

Unfortunately I don’t know what it means. “[name]Light[/name]” is frequently suggested, but I think that’s wrong as the word for light in Sanskrit is jyoti. Many baby names websites say it’s Latin and means “joy,” but I think that’s a post hoc etymology.

I do prefer [name]Gioia[/name] and [name]Joia[/name], but [name]Joya[/name] is nice. [name]Joy[/name] is too simple for my tastes.

Hmm I never thought about people thinking it is [name]JOE[/name]-yah, but I think most people will probably get it. [name]Gioia[/name] is really pretty! I think it would have a lot of pronunciation issues though, and I have no Italian heritage in me so I think that would be really odd. I’m not really a fan of [name]Joia[/name], I think people might try to say it as joey-uh or something like that. I think [name]Joya[/name] would be the most straight forward and would make the most sense for me! Lots of great middle name suggestions, I like…

[name]Joya[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Lorraine[/name] (I think this might be my favorite! I love [name]Lorraine[/name])
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]

Thanks for all of the opinions everyone, I really enjoy reading them. I keep falling more in love with this name more and more!

I actually had a TA in college named [name]Joya[/name], so I can see it working. She pn it [name]Joy[/name]-yuh

[name]Joya[/name] is really sweet! i like any of the spellings suggested including simple [name]Joya[/name]. I also would never have thought anyone would pronounce it jo-yuh but possibly in some places people would maybe?
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Persephone[/name] is beautiful! i feel it needs a more long frilly middle name because it is quite a plain (but beautiful!) first name!
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Lorraine[/name] is also nice!
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Amandine[/name]
[name]Joya[/name] [name]Rochelle[/name]

also brought to mind for me other similar jo names
[name]Joelle[/name]
[name]Joleen[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]

all so pretty!
