I love [name]Jude[/name] [name]Hosea[/name], I may be adding that one to my list.

I adore the name Abjiah (I thought I was the only one in the world), but I don’t think it works that well with [name]Jude[/name], especially when compared to [name]Jude[/name] [name]Hosea[/name].

I actually think [name]Abijah[/name] is a great name. I like “strange” Biblical names such as [name]Azariah[/name], Azaliah, [name]Azriel[/name], [name]Dathan[/name] , etc… But I do think [name]Jude[/name] [name]Hosea[/name] flows better though I prefer [name]Abijah[/name].

It sounds like [name]Hosea[/name] carries great meaning for you, and that you would smile every time you saw or said your little boy’s name. For that reason alone, I’d go for it.

From a meter/rhythm perspective, [name]Jude[/name] is a short, closed single-syllable first name. Choosing a 3+ syllable middle with the emphasis on any syllable but the first would flow best. Luckily, [name]Hosea[/name] meets those criteria! I think, too, that the softer the sound, the easier it will flow.

[name]Long[/name] middle names with Biblical/[name]Christian[/name] overtones-- it works really well with Latin/Greek saints’ names:

[name]Jude[/name] [name]Augustine[/name]
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Malachi[/name]
[name]Jude[/name] Soterios (Greek religious name meaning sin/saviour, given in honor of [name]Christ[/name])
[name]Jude[/name] Theodosius (“gift of God;” Byzantine emperor name)
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Timotheus[/name] (Greek form of [name]Timothy[/name])
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Bartholomew[/name]
[name]Jude[/name] [name]Antonius[/name]

I voted for [name]Jude[/name] [name]Hosea[/name] for two reasons, the first being that [name]Hosea[/name] seems to have the most meaning to you. The second reason is that, while I also really like [name]Abijah[/name], [name]Jude[/name] [name]Abijah[/name] runs together to sound like [name]Judah[/name] Bijah.

[name]Jude[/name] [name]Hosea[/name] is very nice!

I don’t think [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Hosea[/name] go together, and I don’t like the spelling of [name]Hosea[/name] because all I see is “hose.” I do, however, really like [name]Abijah[/name], though I never heard the name before…and I think it looks and sounds nice with [name]Jude[/name]! Curious to know what your “criteria” were starting out, and how you landed on [name]Jude[/name] when it didn’t meet your early specifications…

Well I’ve really liked the name [name]Jude[/name] for quite some time. I was originally going to use it for my first son’s middle name but it didn’t flow well and then I found the perfect middle name for him so I dropped [name]Jude[/name]. As far as it not meeting my criteria, I didn’t want a one syllable name because they tend to feel so abrupt to me sometimes. Not that I dislike them I just figure people will want to lengthen them and call him something ridiculous. (My dad does this with my first son, [name]Simon[/name], and calls him Simonelli and I find it irritating. That could be because I find my father irritating in general though…) I also didn’t want a name that started with a J simply because I don’t like writing the letter J. Yeah, I know, that’s silly. Not too hard to get over that part of it.

Thanks for sharing! It’s always interesting to hear how criteria might translate into a real name. I think [name]Jude[/name] and [name]Simon[/name] will make an excellent sibset. My sons are [name]Field[/name] and [name]Springer[/name]…not everyone’s cup of tea, but they fit my criteria  (and the latter is also a family name). Good luck with your middle name, and congratulations!

[name]Ah[/name] I love [name]Jude[/name]! I’m a huge Beatles fan. It was on my list for a very long time and I still have a soft spot for it  The only thing I don’t absolutely love about it is that [name]Judy[/name] tends to be the natural nn for it and that bugs me…but it is the same as [name]Jack[/name]/[name]Jackie[/name] and I still love [name]Jack[/name], so I guess it isn’t that big of a deal.

I vote for [name]Jude[/name] [name]Hosea[/name]. I love the story of [name]Hosea[/name] and I think it is perfect in the mn spot.

Can someone please tell me how to pronounce [name]Abijah[/name]? Is it [name]ABI[/name]-JUH?
Good [name]Luck[/name]!

I completely agree with the [name]Jude[/name]-y nickname being a setback. I’ve decided I could live with people calling him Judo but not [name]Judy[/name]. I’ll just have to set people straight  [name]Abijah[/name] is pronounced [name]Ah[/name]-bye-jah, a lot like [name]Elijah[/name]
