I wanna know not what your own opinion is on the name but what you would think of a young couple if you met them and their child named… (ie. would you think, “how quirky and original… they must be artistic people” or “where in the world did they come up with that?” or “how unoriginal” etc…)
Be as honest as you like, these are just names Im thinking of… My fav. for a girl is [name]Finley[/name], tho my fav. girl mn is [name]Lydia[/name]… but Im not a fan of [name]Finley[/name] [name]Lydia[/name].
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] - traditional with a twist. Selected a beautiful combination of a classic, timeless name with a fun, upbeat one. Creative, fun parents.
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] - Tried to pair a “fun” name with a more feminine one but kind of missed the mark. [name]Sawyer[/name] is too boyish for [name]Lydia[/name] I think. [name]Both[/name] on their own are cute though! So basically the parents tried too hard.
[name]Sienna[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] - this one is more difficult. Slightly hippie?? That is not meant to be a bad thing, but I can’t quite put my finger on what I am trying to say. Maybe the parents didn’t really know which direction to go.
[name]River[/name] [name]Gerald[/name] [name]Henry[/name] - Same as [name]Sienna[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] I think.
I think [name]Finley[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] is lovely!
At the end of the day, it’s your baby - pick whatever name you like best and forget about what other people think! If it feels right to you that is what matters.
I dont know why, and you’re right at the end of the day it doesnt matter, but mor than just being "name"obsessed I have always been obsessed with WHY people chose the names they do for their baby… and if it fits with who they are (ex. [name]Kate[/name] [name]Hudson[/name] is very laid back, hippie chic… her son Ryders name fits this)
I really like [name]River[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]Gerald[/name] if you are using both as middle names. I also like [name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]Gerald[/name] for a boy!
Ok, I’m just going to be honest here! Please don’t hate me
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] - A boys name paired with a beautiful feminine name. I would’ve preferred something like [name]Fiona[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]. I personally believe that a little girl deserves all girl names.
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] - Another boys name (although I wouldn’t like to see if on a boy either, to be perfectly honest) paired with a lovely, classic name. I would rather see [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] here.
[name]Sienna[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] - The flow doesn’t feel quite right for me here. [name]Sienna[/name] is quite cute, and [name]Lydia[/name] is beautiful and classically feminine.
Sorry, I don’t really like any of these names that much but I would like to suggest [name]Fiona[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] or [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Lydia[/name]?
I love [name]Finley[/name] for a girl and I also like [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Sienna[/name] I would think that the couple who chose these names were original and quirky. Great name choices!
I think I would think that their parents were young, fun, playful people, perhaps with environmentalist or slightly bohemian tendencies. I’d think they were well-educated, sophisticated, yet still rather whimsical and informal. I might also think they were [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name] fans (The Adventures of [name]Huckleberry[/name] [name]Finn[/name], The Adventures of [name]Tom[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name]) considering [name]Finley[/name] ([name]Huck[/name] [name]Finn[/name]), [name]Sawyer[/name] ([name]Tom[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name]), and [name]River[/name] ([name]Huck[/name] travels down a river!) being used together. I’d definitely think they were modern parents, though - nobody in the 19th century would choose [name]Finley[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], and [name]River[/name]!
My name is [name]Sara[/name], so wont be using that… and [name]Fiona[/name] reminds me of a book I read when I was younger “[name]Aren[/name]'t you forgetting something [name]Fiona[/name]?” about an elephant… haha… and I dont really like the name anyway, not my taste.
I asked for honesty and am nothing but happy when I get it
Thank you [name]Lemon[/name]! I always look forward to reading your replies!!!
I probably wouldn’t use [name]Sawyer[/name] if I use [name]Finley[/name], and right now [name]Finley[/name] has made its way up to my #1 spot, I just love that it has the cutsey nn “[name]Fin[/name]”, whereas [name]Sawyer[/name] doesn’t really have a useable nn.
[name]Lydia[/name] is my absolute favorite for a mn, esp, since it is a family name, I wish there was a way I could make it work with [name]Finley[/name]!
I love the idea of having a [name]Fin[/name] & a [name]River[/name]!!!
I’m glad you’ve found names you love so much! That is a shame that [name]Lydia[/name] doesn’t blend well with [name]Finley[/name], but it really doesn’t. [name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] is actually pretty cute! Too bad something like [name]Harper[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Ferris[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] don’t appeal to you!
About the [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name] thing, I think I told you this before, but I really want to name my next dog - another boy, probably - [name]Sawyer[/name], and we’ve already got a [name]Findlay[/name] “[name]Fin[/name]” and [name]Cooper[/name]. I actually like the [name]Fin[/name] and [name]Sawyer[/name] thing, but with children, it might be a bit more peculiar…
I think that [name]Sawyer[/name] is a harsh sounding name, kind of backwoods and rough so giving it to a sweet girl would be all wrong imo.
[name]Sienna[/name] is fairly popular so this may rule it out for you but the thing that cruelled it for me was when I heard a 2 year old say my name is Sinner! Yes, when you are 2 yo it is hard to get the pronunciation of [name]Sienna[/name] right.
[name]Finley[/name] is a pretty name and I think that this is the reason it has gone to the girls. It is one of the better unisex names for girls.
Instead of [name]Sienna[/name] I would go for [name]Seren[/name] or [name]Serena[/name], combo [name]Seren[/name] [name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Serena[/name] [name]Verity[/name] or [name]Serena[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] or [name]Seren[/name] willow.
Instead of [name]Sawyer[/name] I would go for [name]Sally[/name] or [name]Tessa[/name]. [name]Sally[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Clementine[/name].
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] is a good combo.
[name]River[/name] [name]John[/name] [name]Henry[/name] I just love the [name]John[/name] [name]Henry[/name] combo but [name]River[/name] seems lost.
[name]Rio[/name] [name]Walter[/name] [name]Henry[/name], [name]Rio[/name] means river and it has better flow than [name]River[/name].
[name]Rio[/name] [name]Jamison[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Landon[/name] [name]Gerald[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Gerald[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Axel[/name] [name]Jerome[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Boaz[/name] [name]River[/name] [name]Henry[/name] nn of [name]Beau[/name]/[name]Bo[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]River[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]River[/name] [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Finley[/name] elisabeth :love it and would think that the couple had a great unique style without trying too hard to be quirky or ‘out there’
sienna [name]Lydia[/name]: pretty name but wouldn’t think much more about it
I personally don’t like sawyer
all the best xox
[name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Lydia[/name]- I would think these parents really wanted a boy. I feel like the to kill a mockingbird and the adventures of huckleberry fin names are so over done with hipsters. [name]Every[/name] women I know who is pregnant have at least one of these names on their list: [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Scout[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name] and [name]Fin[/name].
[name]Finley[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] and [name]Sienna[/name] [name]Lydia[/name]- I would think that these parents wanted something a little different BUT it is there first child and haven’t realize that [name]Finley[/name] and [name]Sienna[/name] are so very popular even more so than [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Isabella[/name] in hipster places like LA and NYC.
[name]River[/name] [name]Gerald[/name] [name]Henry[/name]- I would think that this little boys parents are environmentally friendly but still have normal jobs. They have thought about there sons future and have given him serious names to fall back on. All in all an amazing combo.
For a girl [name]Lydia[/name] is really an amazing under used name. What about [name]Alba[/name], [name]Alma[/name], [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Thisbe[/name], [name]Cleo[/name] and marigold?
Its funny, everyone keeps telling me [name]Sienna[/name] & [name]Finley[/name] are so popular, other than [name]Sienna[/name] [name]Miller[/name] I have NEVER heard this name on someone before. not once, not even on here really… only sen it mentioned a few times, mostly as suggestions.
As for [name]Finley[/name], I know one girl who has a daughter, [name]Finley[/name] [name]Ray[/name]. I know [name]Lisa[/name] [name]Marie[/name] named one of her twin girls [name]Finley[/name], and [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name] chose [name]Finley[/name] [name]Rae[/name]. [name]Ive[/name] only ever actually heard [name]Finley[/name] as a boys middle name, myself. Other than [name]Finley[/name] [name]Ray[/name], as I mentioned above…
[name]Non[/name] the less, thanks everyone for your input!
It’s not necessarily that they’re super popular now, it’s that they’re trendy. [name]Finley[/name] is a name much-discussed on these message boards, as is [name]Sienna[/name]. In the coming years you will probably see many more babies with these names. That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with them – they’re just very chic right now.
