I love the sound of [name_u]Jules[/name_u], but aren’t a big fan of any longer options. I don’t hate them, but I would rather pick something else.
Is there a slight chance [name_u]Jules[/name_u] can stand on it’s own?

Erm, of course there is. I don’t even know what it would be a short form of ([name_m]Julius[/name_m]? [name_m]Julian[/name_m] I guess).
[name_u]Jules[/name_u] is an independent name with a long history. See many famous bearers, including the first that came to my mind, [name_u]Jules[/name_u] [name_u]Verne[/name_u].
[name_u]Jules[/name_u] [name_u]Verne[/name_u] came to my mind too. I think it’d be okay to use [name_u]Jules[/name_u] on its own.
I love it and it can definitely stand on its own.
I love it on its own
Would depend on the last name, if your last name has multiple syllables I think it would work best.
[name_m]Julius[/name_m] could be a more formal version if he ever wanted the choice, but agree I prefer [name_u]Jules[/name_u]. He might find it a tad feminine when he’s a moody teenager (since most people end up disliking their names at some point, or at least from what people have told me) so it might be good to have a more masculine middle name option.
My only worry is that some could find it a little feminine as the previous poster said. I do like it, I don’t think it needs to be a nickname for [name_m]Julius[/name_m] or [name_m]Julian[/name_m] at all
