[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I’m back and more confused than ever now that my husband and I have gone through names together. Last name is [name_m]Campbell[/name_m]. Here are the top 3 that we agree on and love. What do you think?
With middle names (we could shuffle the deck, we agree on all of these names in any combo).
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - (Is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] too similar to my name, Elise?)
Names are so fun but can make a person (me!) crazy!
Eliza and Elise do seem a bit too close for comfort!
Personally, I love both Ava and Julia, but I don’t think the middle name Elizabeth flows well into either. Ava Jane is simple and cute, but I think my favorite combination would be Julia Josephine!
Also, Ava Lizabeth would be beautiful. I just don’t think the vowel ending and vowel beginning flow well into each other at all.
From your list I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] the most with [name_f]Ava[/name_f] right behind
I love the European vibe of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and her zippy very-much-in-style “Z” in the last syllable.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are both stunning and you can’t go wrong with either of them
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] are very similar but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It can be a nice honour to your own name while your daughter will still have the name of her own
All three names are great! I think that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] might be too close to [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite combo is [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I vote for [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] are a little too close as much as I love the name [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
Out of the three names [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would be my favourite but do I find it too close to your name IMO. I wouldn’t say it’s unusable just I know it would bother me.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] would be my next choice, & [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a beautiful combo
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is by far my favourite, but unfortunately a little too close to [name_f]Elise[/name_f] I think! Maybe you’d like something like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Elina[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] instead?
From [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f], I like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] more since it feels more timeless! [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] could also be a fun option to bridge the style between [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] goes really well with your surname! IMO it’s the kind of name that is so sweet for a little one but equally lovely for an adult.
Congratulations!
You have 3 perfect and beautiful names !
I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is my favourite- and I like that it is close to your name! I always feel like dads getting honoured but moms don’t. Also she is going to call you mom - not [name_f]Elise[/name_f] so I think it’s a none issue
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] is my next favourite- with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] in the middle. JJ is they cutest nickname
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would be too close for me. I’d so [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] vote is for [name_f]Julia[/name_f] – she’s so pretty and timeless! [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is lovely, and I also like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Runner up would be [name_f]Ava[/name_f], because for me [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is a little too close to [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Bright[/name_m] and sparkly and I think it feels balanced between popular [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and classic [name_f]Julia[/name_f].
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] are similar and are both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] variants however - so I might assume she was named ‘after’ you? So if you want to avoid that, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be my second pick
Good job on agreeing on three! With that small of a list, you could wait until you see her to make a decision. Here are my thoughts on the list:
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] Elizabeth-Julia [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Campbell[/name_m] is really nice. It flows great, they’re all similar in style (I think I just really like how easy it is to work with your last name) and it’s feminine & smart. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is a classic & works well at every age. That being said, it just doesn’t excite me that much. It’s lovely, just not my personal favorite.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] Josephine-Love love love it! Definitely my favorite of the three. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is unfortunately way popular, which is the only downside. I still think it’s so beautiful. A great combination of feminine elegance with a little bit of spunk. And [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] gives me similar vibes as [name_f]Ava[/name_f] plus the sound of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_m]Campbell[/name_m] is just perfect. If popularity is really a thing that will bother you, I’d stay away from Ava…which I hate saying, since I clearly adore it.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Jane-I don’t think that it’s bad to have mom [name_f]Elise[/name_f] & daughter [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. They’re the same origin, but they don’t sound too much alike. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Campbell[/name_m] sounds nice, but I don’t like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] as much. I don’t like the sound of it. It’s still a good classic name though. I’m more into [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] if anything.
I like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and then [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] best with your last name. I don’t love Av@ [name_m]Campbell[/name_m] in terms of flow (and I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] had that massive spike in the 2005-2015 period).
IMO, you need to decide first on the basis of first + last name. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] C@mpbell is such a good name for all ages and contexts.
I would otherwise choose [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] in top spot.
So:
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (I like it with an S, prettier and closer match to you)
[name_m]Or[/name_m]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_m]Or[/name_m]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - but I also wonder if [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is a little more obvious there? What about [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]?
I don’t think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are too close. I would own it as a nice connection.
Let me make it clear, first of all, that I completely adore all of these names. They’ve all been on my list for a daughter. I think they’re divine, and you can’t go wrong. Here are my thoughts on each individual name:
Julia - If I have to vote for one, this is it. It’s the most timeless of each option. While they all have during history of use, which is always important to me in naming, Ava had more use in recent history and Eliza is more vintage-with-a-comeback. Julia has been more steady in its use, but never a top ten. To me, that’s just perfect.
Ava - This gets such a bad rap for popularity, but the truth is that I’ve never met an Ava, in almost nine years of raising children. I think it’s just stunning. Sophisticated, elegant, and yet still simple.
Eliza - Such a fun name. I DO think it’s very similar to your name, but not in a bad way. They are both from the same root-Elizabeth-so in a way it’s like naming her after yourself but still giving her her own identity. I am seeing a resurgence in this name and suddenly seeing it everywhere. I know multiple little girls with this name. But that could be a regional thing, and it’s still too tied to history to be “trendy” in the negative sense of the word.
Edited to say: Of the combos you listed, I love Ava Josephine the best.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] gets my vote. It sounds completely different from [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
e-LYE-zuh and e-LEE-ss. The only matching sound is the EL at the beginning, and that beginning E is not the emphasized syllable in either name. You’ll mainly hear LYE and LEE.
Plus, as a PP mentioned, your name isn’t spoken much at home. It’s [name_f]Honey[/name_f], [name_f]Babe[/name_f], Mommy, etc. So if you still think the names are too close (I don’t), consider that your friend circles will be different.
