Julian or Alexander

Which name do you prefer? Trying to decide on one for our son (middle name already decided). Thanks in advance!

Julian… Personally it just sounds better and more modern to me (nothing wrong with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] though)

Maybe if I heard the middle name, it would be easier for me to choose though :+1:

Both are lovely!

However [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is definitely my favourite. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is strong, handsome, incredibly timeless and just feels wholesome with this overall dependable feel. I love the range of nicknames for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and his strong noble meaning ‘defender of
mankind’ essentially love him.

Final choice would depend on the middle, but I do prefer [name_u]Julian[/name_u] of the two

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] for sure! Timeless and handsome, with versatile nicknames.

Thank you so much for the super helpful feedback so far! Im worried the middle name may sway the vote as it’s ‘John’… People tend to prefer [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] to [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] (though its unlikely he’ll ever be known by his full name, I never use my middle name)!! I did think of perhaps either combining Julian-Alexander as a first name to break it up or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_u]John[/name_u] as middle names but our surname is greek and therefore quite long so may be a bit of a mouthful!!

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]! [name_u]Strong[/name_u], handsome, and timeless! [name_u]Julian[/name_u] feels feminine to me, which isn’t my personal preference.

You have two great names picked out! I love [name_u]Julian[/name_u], it’s a soft yet strong sounding name! I prefer a three syllable name over four syllables too, especially if you have a king last name. With the middle name [name_u]John[/name_u], [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] has a spunky, cool feeling to it! And I love the alliterative initials!

[name_f]My[/name_f] youngest is an [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
It is a classic, strong, a great meaning and you can have a multitude of nicknames.

Both great classics, but I prefer [name_u]Julian[/name_u]!

I’m maybe in the minority but I think it is more important that the first and last name flow nicely as we don’t typically use, or even know, the middle name of many acquaintances. We just say the first and last names together. Both names are great but my vote goes to [name_u]Julian[/name_u]. It depends on where you live and if longer names often default to a nickname but the adult Alexanders I know all go by [name_u]Alex[/name_u] so you probably need to love [name_u]Alex[/name_u] as much as [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].

Concur with the many voices who’ve said both are great, but [name_u]Julian[/name_u] gets my vote

Mother of a Julian here so I’m biased  but it’s a fantastic name! We get a lot of compliments on it.

He also has a J middle name and I like the alliteration. Gives the option for “Jay-jay” as a nn

They’re both handsome choices!

[name_u]Julian[/name_u] is more arty, hip and thoughtful; [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is more classic-sounding and commanding.

If you choose [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], I would choose [name_m]Xander[/name_m] over [name_u]Alex[/name_u] - I just find [name_u]Alex[/name_u] boring compared to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Xander[/name_m]. If it must be from the first part of the name, go for [name_m]Alec[/name_m]!

You could always go [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] (two middle names) if you don’t like [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] - but I don’t mind [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] - and agree with above, that flow from first name to last name more important.
