Juliet, Andrew, and.......Benjamin or William

We are deciding between these two names and in hospital now. Middle name is [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. Please help us decide! (with reason for choice)

Oh I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] with [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]! It’s gorgeous! [name_m]Just[/name_m] the right classical vibe, while not being fusty. I think [name_m]William[/name_m] is nice too but a bit plain. And [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] has a wonderful ring to it.

My nephew’s name is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], so my vote goes to [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m].

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is one of my personal favourites and therefore gets my vote!

I guess I’m the odd one out, but I prefer [name_m]William[/name_m]. It’s more classically timeless. [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is an old name but feels very much like a post-60s name, both in terms of sound and actual use. I like [name_m]William[/name_m] with [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].

I’d go with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. I like the nn [name_m]Benji[/name_m], and I feel it goes better with [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].

I’m another vote for [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. Could you move [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] to the fn spot though? I like it better than either [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]William[/name_m]!

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is my favorite! I feel [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] almost runs together with the ‘m’ sounds.

I think I prefer [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], but it depends what you call your son [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. Does he have a nickname and do you intend to shorten [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]William[/name_m]? I also like the idea of using [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] as a first name and not using a nickname. It is only two syllables and I can see it enduring easier than I can see [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] remaining [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and not being shortened to [name_m]Ben[/name_m], or [name_m]William[/name_m] not being shortened to [name_m]Bill[/name_m] or [name_m]Will[/name_m]. Also, though both [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] are classics, at this point in time [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is, I’d say, less popular than [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. It all depends on how the two combinations sound with your last name and more importantly how the first and last name flow together, because that is the name he will be using most of the time.

I hope my thought on this have been helpful. Good luck with your decision. Congratulations on the birth of your newborn.

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]! It is one of my favorites. I am slightly biased since I am married to one and if I hadn’t married one I would use it for one of my own sons. But it is really a fantastic name. And I like how it goes with your other kids. I also wouldn’t worry too much about nickname things either. My husband goes by [name_m]Ben[/name_m] but would respond to [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]Benji[/name_m] as well. And I also know a 4 year old boy who very adamantly even from a young age was only [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. I think it is actually pretty easy to say what he will be called.

Both are fantastic choices. I do prefer [name_m]William[/name_m].

I’m team [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], too! (Although I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], and love the idea of [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], but I think [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] does work best with [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].) I wouldn’t be worried about [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] being just [name_m]Ben[/name_m], if that’s a concern of yours (although I love [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] equally, so I wouldn’t be concerned in the first place, haha.). I know two Benjamins–one is a manager where I work, and the other is my cousin’s adorable little boy–and my second cousin gets [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_m]Benny[/name_m], and [name_m]Benji[/name_m] just about equally (although I pretty much call him [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]), and my boss is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] pretty equally as well.

Good luck!

I prefer [name_m]William[/name_m]

Both good names, both good with mn [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], and both good with sibling names. So in that sense you can’t go wrong. My favourite however is [name_m]William[/name_m] - just more classic and stylish in my eyes.

Hard decision, both names are handsome but my vote goes to [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]!

Not sure if I’m too late with this comment, but I love [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], I think it’s a really handsome name. Congratulations!!

Thank for all of the help–we went with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]

@desperateforaname: [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is so handsome! Congratulations! :slight_smile:
