Juliet? Opinions please!

We are strongly considering the name [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] for our LO. Before we make our final decision, we wanted to get some opinions.

  1. What do you think of the name [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]? What kind of girl/woman do you picture?

  2. [name]Will[/name] a [name]Juliet[/name] be forever doomed with teasing/“[name]Romeo[/name]” comments?

  3. Our other alternatives are [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Are these better?

Thank you so much!

I personally don’t like the name [name]Juliet[/name], but that isn’t a reason the name should not be used. I disliked [name]Romeo[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] and as a result don’t particularly care for the name. However, [name]Juliet[/name] is seeing enough use now that she wouldn’t be forever haunted by [name]Romeo[/name]. All associations aside, I prefer [name]Juliet[/name] over [name]Olivia[/name]. [name]Olivia[/name] is starting to feel worn out to me, and [name]Juliet[/name] is the more distinctive choice.

I like it! I’m sure you could get a few [name]Romeo[/name] & [name]Juliet[/name] comments but not so much that it’s not worth using plus I don’t think they would be used in a teasing manner.

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corrine[/name] is pretty

I think [name]Juliet[/name] might still get teased for [name]Romeo[/name] thing. I love the name, but I plan on using it in the middle to avoid the teasing. I also dislike the nickname [name]Juli[/name]/[name]Jule[/name] so that’s another reason it’s in the middle spot for me.

So I prefer [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] for that reasoning.

I love [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]. That’s a beautiful combo. I’ve only considered [name]Juliet[/name] for a middle but I think it’s because I love [name]Julia[/name] more. Honestly, [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is a great name too. I think [name]Juliet[/name] will be always be thought of with [name]Romeo[/name]. So, hence, it might get mentioned. I can’t really see it as being bad teasing possibilities though. [name]Corinne[/name] is so pretty too, if she did get teased for some reason, she could use [name]Corinne[/name] if she really wanted to.

[name]Juliet[/name] is a beautiful name. You can always spell it [name]Juliette[/name] for it to be more distinctive from [name]Romeo[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] if you want. Either way, though, I don’t think teasing will be an issue. Names have morphed so much in the past few years that almost anything goes and [name]Juliet[/name] is not unusual or odd - simply reminiscent of a well known story.

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is lovely! I envision a little girl that loves to wear pink and knows ballet.

  1. What do you think of the name [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]? What kind of girl/woman do you picture? - I think it’s a lovely combo.

  2. [name]Will[/name] a [name]Juliet[/name] be forever doomed with teasing/"[name]Romeo[/name]" comments? - As the mom of a [name]Juliette[/name] I can say we have never once gotten a [name]Romeo[/name] comment. I think it’s becoming less and less of a connection. We do get “I love her name” comments all the time, so I’m very glad we went with it.

  3. Our other alternatives are [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Are these better? - I like them both. [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] is a little more unique.

Thank you so much, everyone! Your insight is greatly appreciated and extremely helpful!

Absolutely stunning name!

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is beautiful! Yes, you’ll probably get some [name]Romeo[/name] comments, but naming your daughter [name]Juliet[/name] is waaaay better than naming your som [name]Romeo[/name]! [name]Juliet[/name] is one of my favorite names, and I love it. [name]Olivia[/name] is sooooo over-used. It’s #4 on the popularity charts! If your daughter is named [name]Olivia[/name], chances are she’ll have another [name]Olivia[/name] in her class. [name]Juliet[/name] is at #252, so I think it is the better route to go!

[name]Hope[/name] this helped! Good luck!

I love it!

  1. What do you think of the name [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]? What kind of girl/woman do you picture?

Such a lovely name! For either a girl or woman with this name, I imagine someone who is naturally pretty, thoughtful, virtuous and gentle, possessing timeless style.

  1. [name]Will[/name] a [name]Juliet[/name] be forever doomed with teasing/"[name]Romeo[/name]" comments?

I’m sure that’s what most people will think of, since there are few other famous Juliets and the name is not very common. I suggested this name to my husband, and while we both agree that it is a great name, he did feel certain that it was inextricably linked to the story of the starcrossed lovers. The Shakespearean character is not someone you’d want to name a child after, unfortunately. My hope is that more people will use this name and that it will stop being so closely tied to the play. Please be brave and use it to help this cause!

  1. Our other alternatives are [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] or [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Are these better?

Those names are also lovely. If you really don’t like the [name]Romeo[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] association but still want to use the name, go with [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]. If you’d prefer to lose [name]Juliet[/name] after further thought, use [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]…it’s a sweet name. I do think that [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is the most distinctive choice of the three.

At least where I live, kids don’t tease kids over their names. I have a weird name and nobody’s said anything mean about it. There’s even a boy in my grade whose name rhymes with mine. Maybe one or two comments. A name as normal as [name]Juliet[/name] certainly won’t attract any attention, and few jokes here and there won’t crush her spirit. It’s not like you’re naming her [name]Gertrude[/name]. Or [name]Hortense[/name]. Or [name]Brunhilda[/name].

I think [name]Olivia[/name] is fine, but a little boring due to it’s extreme popularity these days. [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] sounds stronger, more interesting and mature. It’s a lovely and timeless combo that will almost definitely go over well.

I love the name and really like the [name]Juliette[/name] sPelling variation. I don’t think the [name]Romeo[/name] thing is a big deal.

Thank you so much, everyone! I’m feeling much better about using [name]Juliet[/name]!

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Olivia[/name] is my sister so I only really picture her :). She does get teased about the whole [name]Romeo[/name]/[name]Juliet[/name] thing, but it’s not super bad. I’d go with [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name], there’s plenty of [name]Olivia[/name]'s and [name]Juliet[/name] is very pretty and unique.

Thank you so much for your feedback! If you don’t mind me asking, does your sister like her name?

I’ve always thought the name [name]Juliet[/name] was beautiful. It’s been a favorite of mine for years, I don’t think the [name]Romeo[/name] & [name]Juliet[/name] is a huge deal, I wouldn’t let that stop me from using the name.
