Juliet Vs. Daphne

Which name and why?

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I have never seen the appeal of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f].

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. While I’m fairly neutral on this name, I too have never seen the appeal of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. For some reason, the sound does not work for me.

I think [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is pretty but [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] holds more of an appeal to me.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. It has many feminine qualities to it, and it also can have the tomboyish nickname [name_u]Jules[/name_u] in case [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] doesn’t exactly suit your little girl. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] looks like a bunch of consonants shoved together.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]…

A lovely feminine classic, with a sweet sound and gorgeous Shakespearean connotations. I love the nicknames [name_u]Julie[/name_u], [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] etc. [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a lovely name.

Tottaly [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] although I remain neutral if I like it.[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is ugly to me personally while [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is much more feminine and has cute nn.Also [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] from [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] so [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is very romantic

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f], hands down.

I love [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] but for some reason [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest.

Awe poor [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. I just love it. I think it’s spunky and fun without being cutesy and girly. I Had this on my list for girl. But I did find everyone hates it.

I respect [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. But I personally don’t like it. Its overly frilly for my taste. I see the appeal of being a classic name.

I also prefer [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] for much the same reasons others have already mentioned. I find [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] very unappealing in looks and sound.

I prefer [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. To me it is soft and sweet.

Oh, I’m surprised to see so many negative reactions to [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. I think it’s a beautiful name. Though I love [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] ([name_f]Juliette[/name_f] for me)–and in all honesty would be more likely to use it–I’m surprised [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] isn’t joining the ranks of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f].

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is currently on my list (fairly near the top). I’ve loved the name [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] since I was a little girl, and honestly I’d consider using it except that it would not translate nicely into my in-laws’ language :frowning:

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] OR [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] would make nice combos, in my opinion.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. It’s beautiful and feminine and ages incredibly well. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is nice, but it doesn’t quite have the subtle sophistication or classiness that [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] has.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is lovely. It is a great name to have. Personally, I don’t think it is all that frilly.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] sounds a bit silly. People call Daphnes daffy.

I’m also surprised that [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] isn’t getting more love on here. I, too, agree it has the same spunkiness and feel of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. I think it’s feminine and fun yet sophisticated. It’s way more interesting to me.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is soft and romantic, yes. Honestly, it’s just boring to me. I grew up with so many girls named [name_u]Julie[/name_u] that any form of it makes me yawn.

Also, I love the nickname [name_f]Effie[/name_f] for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f].

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] by a mile! It’s classic, elegant, common, but not unheard of and just gorgeous. I want to like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], but I just can’t get on board. It sounds too similar to [name_u]Daffy[/name_u] (like [name_u]Daffy[/name_u] Duck the cartoon character).

You really can’t go wrong. I love both names, and wanted to use both for my DD!
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a more gentle, feminine name to me…I did worry about the constant [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]/[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] connection when naming my daughter.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is spunky and strong, it really stands out to me as something unexpected and fresh, while still being “classic”.

Definitely [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. Such a beautiful name and has some great nicknames - [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]. I can’t picture [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] on a baby or small child.

I like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], I love the way it sounds. it’s pretty and feminine like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], but quiet underused. I think I prefer [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] as a middle name though, [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] would be really cute.

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] gets my vote!
