What do you all think of [name_u]June[/name_u]? It’s my grandmother’s name, and I would like to use it as an honor middle (hubby won’t let me do two middles, so it would be the only one). Problem is, I don’t really like it! But my grandmother is my favorite person, and I REALLY want to use it. Basically what I’m looking for is you all to convince me it’s not too old-fashioned, too hipster, too “Mrs. Cleaver,” too whatever else! And that it’s usable.
Current contenders for first names are [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], or [name_u]Eloise[/name_u].
Can you help me love it as a middle name?? Thanks!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u]. It’s sweet, spunky and simple. Makes me think of bare feet on green grass and sunshine. It sounds fresh and modern. I don’t really think it’s too anything but great. I actually really love it more as a FN because I don’t want to see it become another filler MN. But [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be nice.
I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] sound beautiful. I love [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], but not with [name_u]June[/name_u].
My grandmother’s middle name was [name_u]June[/name_u] and I’m keen to use it as a middle name too. Not only for that reason, but she and several other family members were also born in [name_u]June[/name_u] (my mother, father, niece and dog).
I don’t think of [name_u]June[/name_u] as old-fashioned. If anything it strikes me as more hipster-ish than old fashioned (though not hipster in a bad way either).
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u], but [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is lovely.
Some [name_u]June[/name_u] combos I’m considering are:
I adore [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u]. They are both charming, beautiful, and spunky. I do not consider [name_u]June[/name_u] too “old fashioned” or too “Mrs. Cleaver”. [name_m]Even[/name_m] so [name_u]June[/name_u] Cleaver isn’t even a negative, at least to me.
I think [name_u]June[/name_u] goes wonderfully with all of your first-name choices. It’s short, sweet, sunny and goes with basically anything - perfect middle name material!
It’s definitely vintage in feel but I don’t find it too old-fashioned - I think it’s at that “sweet spot” stage where it’s getting just enough use to feel fresh again, but not so much that it’s become the new [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Grace[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f] of the middle name scene. I see it a lot on NB, so its popularity as a middle name (or even first) is probably set to increase over the coming years, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it being used in “real life” yet.
I’d go for it! It’s light, pretty, ahead-of-the-curve and has a lot of personal significance for you. My favourite combo would definitely be [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] - beautiful!
I love names that honor and agree with the previous poster that [name_u]June[/name_u] is easy to adore! Full of all things wonderful and joyous in life, just like the name bearer I’m sure. My fn and mn are name honors for three women in my family and now that I’m having babies of my own, I value and appreciate that my mom and dad gave me the honor of carrying the names
of my family. So incredibly special. I love all of the fn options you have, but especially love the way “[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]” sounds together. I think it carries well in all stages of life too! Congrats on baby!!
All of your first names go well with [name_u]June[/name_u] and I especially like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] – it’s got so much spunk. [name_u]June[/name_u] doesn’t feel dated to me at all; it feels youthful and lively. It’s a very cute name and it’s an added bonus that it’s an honor name.
Well, grandma names are the new In thing right now, so you’re in good company. And it makes me wonder that you don’t like [name_u]June[/name_u] when you like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] (also a grandma name) as they are pretty matchy tonally. I don’t particularly like the name [name_u]June[/name_u] myself, but I don’t think it’s too anything. It’s a perfectly valid name for today.
In any case, you could always use a different name to honor grandma [name_u]June[/name_u]. You could go for [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. The month of [name_u]June[/name_u] was named after her. You could use [name_f]Junie[/name_f], which makes it hipper. You could even use [name_f]Juna[/name_f] (which is an actual name, I didn’t know). You could go for your grandma’s middle name or use a nickname of her middle, if you’re iffy on that one too.
And out of the three first names, I really think Eloise June just flows better. It’s so grandma it’s hip, really.
I think [name_u]June[/name_u] is pretty, a bit old-fashioned, but on trend these days without being too popular.
My favorite of your options is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], but - looking at your name list in your tag line - I think [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] would be wonderful as well.
(I may be biased, as I had an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] in [name_u]November[/name_u], with twin brother named [name_m]Charles[/name_m] ([name_u]Charlie[/name_u]), which I see is on your list, too!)
