Juno?

My husband and I recently found out we are expecting our first in [name]April[/name]! We are beyond excited, but now we are coming to the decision of names. After much debate, we have decided (possibly decided) on [name]Juno[/name] for a girl. While we both love the name and the unique quality it has, I worry if it will “work” in the real world. I know people will likely associate it with the movie which doesn’t really bother us. I am a history teacher and self-proclaimed nerd so the association to D-[name]Day[/name] is interesting to me. With that being said, I also understand how important names are when developing a first impression. So what do you think of when you hear the name [name]Juno[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you think it is a name that is wearable throughout childhood and into adulthood? My hormones have made this decision even more difficult than it was to begin with!

Please be kind, we have already endured some not so nice reactions for family and friends Bout other names. So much so that we have decided to keep the name a secret until the baby is born. We figure once he or she arrives no one will argue about the name! Thanks!

Some friends of ours recently named their baby girl [name]Juno[/name]. At first I did think of the movie, but that quickly faded. It’s a lovely name and by the time she grows up that film won’t be front of mind for people. If you love and feels right - go with it!

First: Congratulations!
I love [name]Juno[/name]! Actually it’s the name of the bed I’m buying for my baby, so that’s my first association. I also think of the movie (which was great, one of my favourite movies!), and of course the goddess. Very beautiful name for baby girl!

I love it and I think it’s totally usable.

I like [name]Juno[/name]. It has a lovely connection to mythology and a very pretty sound. I think it would sound great on an adult and cute on a little girl. If you want something cuter for a little girl, you can nickname her [name]Junie[/name].

I think that although some might not like [name]Juno[/name] at first, they will warm up to it. I personally think it’s beautiful, and if you love it and are willing to use it, I say go for it!

The character was named [name]Juno[/name] in the movie because the name already had the image: intelligent, offbeat, down-to-earth. It’s a cool name, plain and simple. Not too overtly tied to mythology ([name]Juno[/name] never entered popular currency the same way [name]Apollo[/name] or [name]Zeus[/name] or [name]Neptune[/name] did), with a very fashionable -o sound.

I absolutely love [name]Juno[/name]! I know that people do associate the name with a movie, but it’s not a bad association to have. There was a while when people didn’t like the movie because they said it was glamorizing teen pregnancy, but I didn’t. I love that movie.

It’s definitely usable and can transition into adulthood. If it was a super cutesy name, I would say no, but I don’t get that effect from [name]Juno[/name].

[name]Juno[/name] is beautiful!

I think of the [name]Roman[/name] mythology first and the film second. ([name]Even[/name] though I just re-watched the film three days ago). I’m not a fan of [name]Hera[/name]'s vindictiveness toward the paramours of her husband -> that vindictiveness would make me question if using her as my childs namesake would be acceptable to me on a personal level. With all those reservations I still love the name [name]Juno[/name] and think it’s very beautiful.

I think of the movie first and the [name]Roman[/name] Mythology second. I think the movie is the first association the vast majority of people will have with the name- it’s [name]Oscar[/name]-winning, constantly on TV, and really brought [name]Diablo[/name] [name]Cody[/name], [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Page[/name] and [name]Michael[/name] [name]Cera[/name] a lot more prominence. It come up pretty frequently. I can’t remember the last time I heard anyone reference the goddess. Actually, outside of naming and actual mythology, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard anyone reference the goddess. But I guess that’s all kind of beside the point.

I don’t think [name]Juno[/name] is 100% wearable. I [name]LOVE[/name] the name. It’s one of my favorites as well. But it’s got the recent movie, the unusual -o ending, and homonyms like [name]Juneau[/name] and [name]Junot[/name] (as in [name]Diaz[/name]) to contend with. It doesn’t really sound like other girl’s names. It’s odd. You need the personality to pull it off. I’ve done the Starbucks test- where you tell someone [name]Juno[/name] is your name at Starbucks to gage the reaction- and the woman said “Really?” It’s a tough name to have.

That said, I totally get where you’re coming from- it’s a fantastic name. Personally, I think I’d use it as a nickname, maybe for [name]Junia[/name], which sounds like a lot of more common names like [name]Julia[/name], or [name]June[/name], which isn’t so unusual. That way you get to use [name]Juno[/name], but she’s not stuck with it if it’s too odd for her tastes.

I really love [name]Juno[/name]! I do think that it’s wearable. Girls’ names ending in O seem to be a burgeoning trend, and it’s so similar to [name]June[/name], which is a very familiar, established name.

I dont like it. But I love [name]June[/name], [name]Junia[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name], so not sure why! I also love mythology so I think its one those names I want to like, but don’t.

I love it, although I’m not sure if I’d ever be able to use it.

Thanks for all the feedback! I’m still flip flopping. I also like [name]Sloane[/name] for a girl. My husband, who is totally in love with [name]Juno[/name], isn’t totally sold on [name]Sloane[/name].

I think it’s super cute! I do somewhat think of the movie, but I also think of [name]Juno[/name] in mythology, and of the town [name]Juneau[/name], in Alaska! It’s on my list along with [name]Nova[/name] and [name]Luna[/name]. I say if you love it, use it. No matter what anyone thinks of it, as soon as they meet a beautiful little girl named [name]Juno[/name], they will stop thinking of it as just a name, and fall in love with who she is! Good luck and congrats!!

This is my daughters name  I would have been so sad if we hadn’t had a girl to bestow it on

I love the name [name]Juno[/name]. Where I live I think it wouldn’t be a wearable name for a child but it’s different all over the world. It’s a name on my guilty pleasure list but my husband would never let me use it, even as a middle name. If you love it, use it!

i know a 4 year old named [name]JUno[/name] she is super cute and wears it well.

not sure if popularity bothers you but [name]Sloan[/name] is SUPER popular where i live. way more pop than [name]Ava[/name] or isabella
