Hey everyone! As I’m sure you’ve guessed, I’m writing a book and I need your help naming my main character.
The book is kind of dystopian… It’s set in a future where there is no government, just tiny sects of people who sometimes fight with each other. Basically, it’s an anarchist society.
The character I need help naming is a 17 year old girl who lives with her brother, an old woman, and a mismatched group of kids - you could think of it like an orphanage. She’s a bit motherly in that she comforts/takes care of all the little kids. Her brother thinks she’s weak because she can’t stand the sight of blood (and when everyone’s kind of at war with everyone, that’s a problem) and she’s really sensitive to the emotions of other people. Because she’s so sensitive and “weak”, most people write her off as a threat and trust her with their secrets, which eventually backfires when she becomes a kind of double agent.
Here’s some names I’ve considered, just to give you a feel for what I’m looking for…
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenora[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f]
So basically, classic-ish names that are so old they’re new. And if you have any suggestions for boys names, too, let me know please!! Naming characters is tough…
I think [name_f]Hestia[/name_f] would be a super name! if you did something like [name_f]Hestia[/name_f] [name_f]Arabel[/name_f] for first and middle, gives it an old-world feel. hope this helped!
I do like [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], but the others seem either from the wrong time period or have meanings contrasting the personality. I’ve limited my ideas to ten of my favorites.

3)[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]

Hoe about:
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
Breony
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ana[/name_f] or [name_f]Asia[/name_f]
I really love [name_f]Hestia[/name_f]–Greek goddess, right? With that theme:
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] nn [name_u]Perry[/name_u] or [name_u]Percy[/name_u]

[name_u]Bryn[/name_u]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (this would need a bad-ass nickname)
[name_u]Marley[/name_u] (little out of place, but I kind of like it for the character)
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f] (Saffy could be a nickname)
