These are, currently, my top 5 names for girls. I’m not pregnant or TTC, just a curious name-enthusiast wanting to know how you would rank them! They are in alphabetical order so as not to give away my personal preference (but even that has been flip-flopping).

If you want to make suggestions on first names, middle names, or nicknames afterword, go ahead! I’m pretty attached to the first names, but a few of the middle names are not set in stone. Thanks!
I really like [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name],very pretty and timeless, but I’m not so keen on the others
[name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] - I love [name]Ariadne[/name]! [name]Addy[/name] is cute, but AJ is NMS.
[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] - like
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Eve[/name] together! I love the nn [name]Tilly[/name].
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - like [name]Penelope[/name]. Not crazy about [name]Rose[/name] in the mn spot but it’s nice enough.
[name]Primrose[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - I like [name]Posy[/name] as an nn for [name]Primrose[/name].
To the pp – [name]Ariadne[/name] is said ar-ee-odd-nee.
[name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] - nickname: [name]Addie[/name] or AJ – This ones my favorite but I hate the nn [name]Addie[/name] for it. It would be said [name]AH[/name]-dee if you used it because the A in [name]Ariadne[/name] makes the A sound.
[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] - nickname: Bry (like eye) if any – I’ve never liked [name]Bryony[/name] and recently I met a boy by that name and it actually suited him I do this the 2 come together.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] - nickname: [name]Tilly[/name] or [name]Emmy[/name] (b/c of the M.E. initials) – [name]Matilda[/name] has always seemed childish to me, probably because the movie [name]Matilda[/name], But I do really like the combo and [name]Tilly[/name] is adorable
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - nickname: [name]Poppy[/name] and/or [name]Posy[/name] – Very pretty but I don’t understand the nicknames
[name]Primrose[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - nickname: Prim and/or [name]Rosie[/name] – I would prefer [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Primrose[/name], but I do think this is lovely.
I would rank them like this:
Ariadne Juliet
Primrose Amelia
Penelope Rose
Matilda Eve
Bryony Maeve
[name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] - nickname: [name]Addie[/name] or AJ – This one has almost made it on my list, but something holds me back. I do like the sound. Prefer a different nn - [name]Ari[/name] perhaps?
[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] - nickname: Bry (like eye) if any – NMS - but the combo works
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] - nickname: [name]Tilly[/name] or [name]Emmy[/name] (b/c of the M.E. initials) – As you can see by signature, I really like this name. It’s quirky and fun. Prefer the nicknames [name]Tilda[/name] or [name]Tilly[/name].
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - nickname: [name]Poppy[/name] and/or [name]Posy[/name] – [name]Love[/name] [name]Penelope[/name], but [name]Rose[/name] is a pretty standard nn. I think the nicknames are cute.
[name]Primrose[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - nickname: Prim and/or [name]Rosie[/name] – My favorite combo. [name]Adore[/name] [name]Primrose[/name]. Prefer the Prim nn.
I love [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name], it reminds me of the little girl in Atonement. [name]Primrose[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] are really cute too.
I think they are all stunning choices! I’m having a hard time picking a favorite. But I’ll try to rank them.
[name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] - nickname: [name]Addie[/name] or AJ- I would have gone with nn [name]Aria[/name] probably
[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] - nickname: Bry (like eye) if any
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] - nickname: [name]Tilly[/name] or [name]Emmy[/name] (b/c of the M.E. initials)- [name]Emmy[/name] is a cute nn for this combo.
You want them ranked, correct?
Here goes (oh and I love them all btw!)
[name]Primrose[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - I love the name [name]Primrose[/name], except for the Hunger Games connection, as much as I like the Hunger Games. Prim & [name]Rosie[/name] are both adorable, also, [name]Amelia[/name] has recently become one of my favorites
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Poppy[/name] & [name]Posy[/name], [name]Rose[/name] is a little overdone in the middle though.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] - [name]Tilly[/name]'s adorable, not sure how I feel about the [name]Emmy[/name] thing…
[name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] - I much prefer [name]Addie[/name] over AJ, I’ve never been a fan of initial nicknames
[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] - Strange as a reason as it is, I don’t like [name]Bryony[/name] because I don’t like the letter y. I love [name]Maeve[/name] though, especially in the middle, it’s adorable.
[name]Hope[/name] this is what you were looking for!
I’ve had these names as my top for a while now, but I’m starting to second guess them (mostly [name]Ariadne[/name]) from reception that I’ve gotten (various places) and due to the variations in colloquial pronunciation. I still would really love to use [name]Juliet[/name] as it honors my mother [name]Julie[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think that [name]Adelaide[/name] would be a nice, more easily pronounced substitute? I love [name]Adelaide[/name] and that it more easily yields [name]Addie[/name] as a nickname (or Lady/[name]Laidy[/name] for usage at home, haha). [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]?
The original rankings (if you’re interested) went: [name]Ariadne[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Primrose[/name], and then [name]Bryony[/name]. However, I’m starting to think that I want to move [name]Matilda[/name] up because [name]Eve[/name] has family connections for me while [name]Rose[/name] was just a nice way to get [name]Posy[/name] (in my brain). My concern then is that [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] both have connections to Australia that I only just realized, as [name]Adelaide[/name] is a capital of one of the states and “Waltzing [name]Matilda[/name]” is a famous song. Is this too obvious? I don’t have any ties to Australia so the theme would be a little odd!
Next, I think I can let go of [name]Posy[/name] for [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (and give [name]Posy[/name] to [name]Primrose[/name]) since I think I’m moving [name]Matilda[/name] above it and I have no idea how many children I will have anyway (or what their genders would be). What do you think of [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]? [name]Ruth[/name] is my grandmother’s name and she is really important in my life. [name]Grace[/name] is my great grandmother who I never got to meet, but my mom has a fondness for her. Is [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Grace[/name] too predictable and [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] a bit more (though not totally) original? My middle name is [name]Mary[/name], I have an Aunt [name]Mary[/name], a great Aunt [name]Mary[/name], a great Grandma [name]Marie[/name], an aunt with the middle name [name]Marie[/name], and a cousin [name]Mari[/name] (MAW-ree), is any variation of [name]Mary[/name] too commonplace for a middle name (and do any of them sound good with [name]Penelope[/name])?
I am making this waaay too long, I’m so sorry! Hypothetically if I were to have [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name], are the middle names too close?
You can answer any or all of these inquiries, thank you if you even read it!!
Would [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Marin[/name]/[name]Maren[/name] work? I would pronounce it [name]MARE[/name]-en either way. I’m kind of glad to be shaking up my list a bit!! If the choice was between [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Marin[/name]/[name]Maren[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Ruth[/name], which do you prefer?
[name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] - this seems a little much to me. On their own each is lovely (though I don’t know how many people outside of Nameberry will be sure how to prn [name]Ariadne[/name]) but together, it seems quite long, and even a little clunky.
[name]Bryony[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] - nickname: this one flows a lot better, but [name]Bryony[/name] is NMS. It’s nice paired with [name]Maeve[/name] though…a very soft sounding name.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] - I really like this. [name]Matilda[/name] has really been standing out to me lately. It’s spunky and not at all over-done.
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - nickname: I love [name]Penelope[/name], though I don’t know where “[name]Poppy[/name]” would come from. Seems a bit of a stretch. Especially since you already have a floral name in there with [name]Rose[/name]. I like this combination though.
[name]Primrose[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] - I’d prefer [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Primrose[/name], which I think has a better flow to it. I think [name]Primrose[/name] is a bit much as a first name. But it is pretty.
I’m also pretty partial to the [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] suggestions (and I love [name]Mimi[/name] for a nickname), but [name]Amelia[/name] is crazy popular while [name]Primrose[/name] is not. I know, I know, it’s popular for a reason and I do really love it and think the flow is quite improved. [name]Do[/name] you think it’s popularity would die down some in ten years or so? Also, any other mn suggestions for [name]Amelia[/name] that might sway me? I’d feel bad if the other siblings had family middle names while she did not. I have [name]Julie[/name] [name]Beth[/name], [name]Gladys[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Mary[/name] [name]Grace[/name], [name]Carla[/name] [name]Marie[/name], and [name]Stephanie[/name] [name]Anne[/name].
I also wonder, if I had three girls, would having [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], and [name]Amelia[/name] be too matchy or just unified but unique from the other two names in the sib set?
When it comes to names, I don’t think popularity should matter if you love it. I haven’t met any [name]Amelia[/name]'s so it can’t be that popular… I think [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Primrose[/name] sounds lovely.
I also think [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] sounds lovely too.
[name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] would be a lovely sibset
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Eve[/name] (I think [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] would work as well with [name]Matilda[/name]) nn [name]Tilly[/name], if you used [name]Emmy[/name] she would be lost in the seas of [name]Emma[/name]'s and [name]Emmy[/name]'s.
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] ([name]Eve[/name] or [name]Amelia[/name] would work too) I don’t like either of your nns.
I don’t like the others.
[name]Ariadne[/name] makes me think of arachnides and I hate spiders… so that’s a no for me. [name]Juliet[/name] is lovely though. With [name]Bryony[/name] I just think of [name]Bryan[/name]. I don’t care for [name]Maeve[/name]. [name]Primrose[/name] I don’t like because it’s from Hunger Games and will probably become popular and trendy (but I don’t think it’s an awful name. [name]Just[/name] it’s association w/ the movie/books bothers me). I love [name]Amelia[/name] though.
