Just exploring options for twin names

My partner and I are expecting girl twins, and although we have a couple months to go to decide—it would be nice to explore a few options, especially middle names.

When it comes to middle names, we’ve decided not to use family names due to estranged relationships. But… it would be nice to incorporate something that holds some special meaning in some way.

We’re not sure how to go with this, but there are a few things that come to mind.

My partner is from the Czech Republic (Moravia) and I’m Australian. Origin names? I don’t know how to start with that, should I look up an online database? Suggestions for a useful one?

[name]Juliet[/name] Marillier is my favourite author, he dosen’t really want to use any of his favourite author’s names but wouldn’t mind something classical (19th century literature, or a little ancient but not too obscure).

He loves the [name]Elder[/name] Scrolls (video game ) I’m not sure about referencing from that, though I do like the name Aela.

Overall I think our main dilemma is the middle name, we want a middle name but something that is meaningful.

I love [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Leila[/name] {my grandmother’s name!}, [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Adeline[/name]. Although, any of the names you choose are wonderful!

I really like your first names. My favorites are probably [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], and [name]Adeline[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Adeline[/name] together. They would make such a lovely pair of twin girls.

[name]Juliet[/name] Marillier uses a lot of really lovely classic Irish names. Some of them are hard to pronounce, but not all. You could have a look at straightforward Irish names, and use one that would be simple for everyone.

I love the [name_m]Elder[/name_m] Scrolls as well, which is why I’d probably avoid the names [name_u]Alva[/name_u] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] (although I agree they are both rather nice!) since: 1. [name_u]Alva[/name_u] is a creepy villain in a pretty freaky quest, and 2. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] is a tragic character who meets an awful demise. [name_m]Just[/name_m] throwing that out there! :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it would be cool to use a name that works in English and in Czech, or use a Czech middle name. I find Czech names to be pretty and exotic, and this way you get to honour the girls’ heritage.
