Cedora and Cedrus.
Cedora was a local artist and her granddaughter is Cedora too. Cedrus is a woman I worked with a million years ago in Berkeley.
I like the lilting quality of Cedora and I like the tree association of Cedrus, though am not so keen on the -rus ending.
Any thoughts? I’m not naming anyone.

Cedora is cute. Never heard of it. I also really like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]. I would’ve assumed Cedrus was masculine to be honest with you. It’s okay but I’m not sure I like it on a woman.
I came across the name Cedora years ago on an old [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] census from the early 1900’s (along with Cedorine, Cedalie, Cedorie) ive always thought it was beautiful but I’ve never heard any one else mention it and never could find any solid information on the origin of the name! So I’m thrilled to hear it in use somewhere!
Cedrus is intriguing but as others have said I would’ve assumed it was masculine, a mix between [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] & [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]

Cool! I thought it was made up. I like it better than Cedrus and can see Cedrus on a male.

Wow those are amazing names that are completely new to me! I honestly would view both of them as connected to [name_u]Cedar[/name_u].
I do agree with the pps that I would assume Cedrus was male if I had nothing to go by.

I love Cedora! That’s a beautiful blend of hard and soft sounds. Cedrus isn’t for me; it sounds masculine, and I’m not usually a fan of the “us” ending. I do see the appeal, however!

I think Cedora is gorgeous, and Cedorie too @LibelluleClaire. Cedrus is great! I can definitely see what people are saying about it sounding masculine, yet it also echoes the feminising suffix of actress, waitress and that’s how I first reacted to it. She sounds like the goddess of Cedars!

Yeah, I can’t find any solid information on the name, but I have heard that Cedorine & Cedalie are also used in some places of [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f] so I’m assuming since both [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] and [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f] have a strong [name_u]French[/name_u] influence it might have a [name_u]French[/name_u] origin.
