Kaelan for a girl?

I think it’s feminine enough for a girl but I find a lot of people telling me it looks like more of a boy’s name.

I’ve liked this spelling for a long time and I want to avoid using lyn/lynn’s and la’s

Now I’m sort of unsure whether I should use it…

It’s nice but could get confused. [name_u]Keeley[/name_u]?

Yes, it’s definitely a fine name for a girl. The sound is good. I do agree that the spelling is a little convoluted and fits with more currently trendy boys names.

[name_f]Kaylin[/name_f] might be a little more straightforward because it combines [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] and [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] which is basically what the name is. But, honestly, anything you select will have to be spelled out, so perhaps it doesn’t mater.

I went to school with a [name_u]Cailin[/name_u] so I think it’s feminine enough. [name_u]Cailin[/name_u] is a spelling option, but there’s also [name_f]Kaylin[/name_f], Kailin, [name_u]Kaelin[/name_u], [name_f]Kaylen[/name_f], and Kailen, all of which look more feminine to me and avoid the lyn ending.

The only [name_u]Kaelan[/name_u] I’ve known of is a girl (though she might spell it [name_u]Kaelen[/name_u]—can’t remember). I’ve also known a [name_f]Kalyn[/name_f], also a girl.

[name_u]Kaelan[/name_u] is not my favorite spelling—the A’s and E’s get a little confusing—and as other users have pointed out, other spellings might be perceived as more feminine. I like [name_f]Kalyn[/name_f], [name_u]Kaelin[/name_u], [name_f]Kaylin[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaylen[/name_f].

Being a guy named [name_u]Kaelan[/name_u] I can tell you that I’m always expected to be a girl. Teachers, Students, Friends of Friends, Employers, everybody. I even get called [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f] at times… There will be confusion but most people will say it as [name_f]Kaylyn[/name_f], I’ve gotten to the point where I just go by [name_f]Kae[/name_f] haha! Anywho, I think you’ll be fine but ultimately you should go with what feels right to you! What makes your heart race and what gives you that excitement that fills your body when you read or say it!

[name_u]Kaelan[/name_u] for a girl would totally work. I’d pair it with a feminine middle.
I’d also play around with spelling variations and maybe you would opt to avoid the letter Y in the name.

[name_u]Kaelen[/name_u]
[name_u]Kalen[/name_u]
Kailan
I happen to like [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] for a girl.

Soundwise, I think it’s fine. Very unisex.
However, every [name_u]Kaelan[/name_u] I know is a boy. I assume male when I hear this name.
