Kahne

What do you think of Kahne as either a first name or middle name a little boy I don’t like any other spellings of the name.

Is it pronounced like [name_m]Kane[/name_m]? I like it fine but Im not sure how to say it.

I wouldn’t know how to pronounce it, to be honest!

@tallemaja and @hellobanjo it’s pronounced like [name_m]Kane[/name_m]

I don’t mind how it looks, but tbh the pronunciation doesn’t make sense to me. I could be wrong, but I can’t easily think of an instance in the [name_f]English[/name_f] language where “ah” is pronounced ay, like in [name_m]Kane[/name_m]. I don’t know if it’d ever be pronounced correctly. I prefer [name_m]Cain[/name_m], if [name_m]Kane[/name_m] isn’t the one for you!

I think its fine as long as you’re ok with misspellings and the occasional “Khan” mispronunciation

I would think the parents are big NASCAR fans.
I have [name_u]Kasey[/name_u] on my boys list, though.

@Youssarian That’s why I love it because I am a huge NASCAR fan

It looks like it should be pronounced “kah-nay” to me. “Ah” almost never makes an “ay” sound that I can think of so it doesn’t really make sense to me. I do like the name [name_m]Kane[/name_m] though.

I personally don’t like any spellings of the name Kane/Kahne/Cain. If you are in circles with Christians, even if you are not [name_u]Christian[/name_u] yourself, then your kid’s name may be associated with the first murderer in the bible.

Agreed! I prefer Kane, Cane, or even Cain for the pronunciation you’re after.

How is this pronounced? Like Kay-n/Kane? [name_u]Or[/name_u] Kar-n? Kah-nee? Kah-nay?

@Greyblue it’s pronounced like [name_m]Kane[/name_m] it’s a surname

Phonetically, I don’t think it makes much sense. -ah in [name_f]English[/name_f] almost always makes an -ar sound.
ay, ae, ai, a-e and a all make ay sounds.

I’d automatically pronounce it kar-n. If I was told that was wrong, maybe kar-nay? [name_m]Kane[/name_m] wouldn’t come to mind at all. I get that it’s the spelling you like, but if the name is pronounced the same anyway, I imagine it causing lots of pronunciation and spelling mishaps. I know nothing about NASCAR so had to google to see where the spelling had come from and I imagine there’ll be others like me!

@9Faith3 ah, okay, that makes sense. As a middle, it’s great

i definitely read it as kahh-nay, then khan. i really don’t think “kane” will fly well, other than with people in the know. it’s just not how english works. but it can be a cool middle / nickname

[name_f]My[/name_f] first crack at pronunciation would be “connie” tbh! If pronounced/spelled like [name_m]Kane[/name_m] I think it’s a cool surname name, though.

I thought it was supposed to be like [name_m]Kanye[/name_m].
I guess it could work in the middle of it has meaning to you.

I’d read kah-nay and even after you said it’s pronounced [name_m]Kane[/name_m] I can’t see it, I can’t quite make sense of that pronunciation associated with that spelling.
As a middle I don’t think it matters.

I would pronounce this like [name_m]Khan[/name_m] or [name_m]Kanye[/name_m] before I guessed [name_m]Kane[/name_m].
