Kai? Middle name options?

Our baby boy is due in 2 months and my husband and I seem to have different tastes in names. So far, the only one we both like is [name]Kai[/name]. What do you think of this? We like the Hawaiian meaning, since we have ties to [name]Hawaii[/name]. We are not totally set on this name though, so please feel free to be open about your opinions.

What do you think of our middle name options?
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] (I have always loved this name and it’s meaning, and I like the 1-3-2 syllable pattern it creates)
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Jacob[/name] (in honor of DH’s father)
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] (in honor of my father, but DH not fond of this name)

Last name is 2 syllables, starting with W.

Our daughter is [name]Brynn[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]. Her middle name honors my mother.

Thanks, Berries!

I really like [name]Kai[/name] and it does have several great meanings. The fact that you have ties to [name]Hawaii[/name] makes it that much more appealing in my opinion. I like [name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] the best and think it goes so well with your daughter’s name. I think the middle basically comes down to whether you want to honour a family member or not. Out of those two I prefer [name]Kai[/name] [name]Joseph[/name].

I used to adore the name [name]Kai[/name], the sound of it is just gorgeous but it got really popular in the UK. I’d consider it for a middle name though.

[name]Nathaniel[/name] is a favourite of mine, so [name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] definitely gets my vote. I love the flow too!

Another thought is to use the Hawaiian forms of [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Jacob[/name] in the middle spot–

[name]Iokepa[/name] ([name]Joseph[/name])
[name]Iakopa[/name] ([name]Jacob[/name])

Otherwise I really like [name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name].

I like the flow of [name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] followed by [name]Kai[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]. [name]Kai[/name] is one of my favourite one-syllable names for a boy and I think it goes well with [name]Brynn[/name]. I don’t like many names with just three letters but this one is an exception. Since [name]Kai[/name] is so short, I love longer names in the middle spot.

[name]Kai[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Timothy[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Gregory[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Solomon[/name]

I really like the sound of [name]Kai[/name]. It’s very nice. From your middle names, I love [name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]! It’s very handsome.

In case you want other options:

[name]Kai[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]William[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Dorian[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Leander[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Rafferty[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]
[name]Kai[/name] [name]Raphael[/name]

I adore [name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name], and had thought of it immediately before opening the thread.
I think it’s a sign, lol.

I love [name]Kai[/name].

[name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name] wins on sound alone. It’s the name I would choose unless honoring one of your fathers is very important to you.

Thanks very much for your valuable comments, Berries. I love [name]Kai[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]. My husband prefers a middle name with family association even if it doesn’t sound as good or is an overly popular name. So, we’ll have to work out a solution. Many thanks!

Sorry I think [name]Kai[/name] is a trendy name that will soon fall out of fashion. If anything I would choose [name]Malachi[/name] nn [name]Kai[/name].
