Kaio

Hey Berries!
I recently came across the Basque name Kaio ([name]Kye[/name]-oh), from the Latin name [name]Caius[/name]. I really love its energetic sound. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

I really like the sound of it! That being said, I would probably never use it. I am fairly conservative when it comes to boy names, and my husband is even more so, unfortunately. Otherwise, I really like the name. Maybe I’ll run it by my husband later. He is starting to warm up to [name]Kai[/name]

my son’s name is Kaio [name_m]William[/name_m]. I love the name Kaio. Its strong and masculine and unique but not crazy =)

It’d be mistaken for other things a lot; probably [name_u]Kai[/name_u], a familiar alternative I much prefer, and also maybe [name_u]Kyle[/name_u] if someone was saying it fast or under their breath. Not my favorite, sorry.

I have two issues with it. 1) It sounds like a destined-to-go-under nightclub or restaurant 2) When your son is small people are bound to think he’s saying “[name_u]Kyle[/name_u]” with a speech impediment. [name_m]Even[/name_m] as he’s older, it’s easy to mishear. I think an unusual name that sounds very close to an established name is a mistake.

It sounds pretty cool. I’m not a huge fan of [name_u]Kai[/name_u] on a boy, although I understand it was originally a boy’s name. Kaio sounds much more masculine, in my opinion. He’ll probably have to explain it to a lot of people but that’s just how it goes with an unusual name.

I think it’s a cool and unique name… I like it
