I love the name Kali (could be spelled many ways, Callie, Cali, Kalley, etc but I like Kali best). My husband and I struggled to agree on a full name - did not agree on Caroline, Carolyn, Callista, Calliope… And generally we prefer a shorter first name anyway. I’m tempted to go with Kali as a full name since that’s what we’d call her anyways, but recently I also came across Kalia and hubs prefers it.
So 2 questions: Does Kali stand well on its own or better only as a nickname? And second, how would you pronounce Kalia? I’m concerned that it’s too ambiguous.
Thanks for the input!
I would say if you like [name_f]Kali[/name_f] then go with [name_f]Kali[/name_f]. I prefer longer names but I think [name_f]Kali[/name_f] is cute and if you love it then use it.
Tbh I don’t know where to start with pronouncing [name_f]Kalia[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was Car-lee-uh like [name_f]Talia[/name_f]. But I could also see callie-uh or cuh-lee-uh.
[name_f]Kali[/name_f] is cute! [name_f]Kalia[/name_f] is pretty too, I would say kaah-lee-uh.
While [name_f]Kali[/name_f] technically works as a standalone, I’d probably go with a longer version because [name_f]Kali[/name_f] is the Hindu goddess of destruction (though I’m not sure how strong that association is)
I love Callie/Kali. I think I’d default to pronouncing [name_f]Kali[/name_f] as [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f], but that’s easily enough corrected. As far as [name_f]Kalia[/name_f] goes, I’d say ka-LEE-ah, but perhaps only because I know one.
Thanks for the feedback!
I was curious if it would be pronounced “KAH-lee-ah” (like Talia) or “Kah-LEE-ah” (which kind of reminds me of kahlua).
Anyway leaning towards just [name_f]Kali[/name_f] by itself. Thanks to all who commented
