Kamille?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!

I came across someone the other day who’s name was [name_f]Kamille[/name_f]. He was probably in his late 20’s and was from the Netherlands region I believe. I absolutely love this name on a male. Typically it feels so female, but it surprisingly just really works. Any thoughts on the name [name_f]Kamille[/name_f] for a boy? Would you ever go with it, or is it too feminine?

I don’t like most K names, and I think the boy would have a hard life with such a name.

[name_f]Kamille[/name_f] is all feminine to me. I love it on a girl. But I guess it’s kind of like [name_m]Emile[/name_m] which is a male name so I can see how it could work.

I can totally see it. Technically, [name_f]Camille[/name_f] is a unisex name (I think of the fairly famous composer, [name_f]Camille[/name_f] [name_m]Saint[/name_m]-Saens), but I’ve found that so many people in [name_u]America[/name_u] see [name_f]Camille[/name_f] as feminine that I’ve never even tried to consider it on a boy. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the nn [name_u]Cam[/name_u] for a boy, though, and I’m sure the right European guy could pull it off. I find it rather intriguing, actually.

Wasn’t it spelled [name_m]Kamil[/name_m]? The “lle” ending feels very feminine to me. I know two guys named [name_m]Kamil[/name_m], though. [name_m]Both[/name_m] of them are from Muslim families.

At first I thought that his name was spelled [name_m]Kamil[/name_m] bought it was actually [name_f]Kamille[/name_f]. I’m finding that I am falling in love with it! I always thought od [name_f]Bette[/name_f] [name_m]Davis[/name_m] in the Now, Voyager whenever I heard [name_f]Camille[/name_f], but I am seriously crushing on this name. I can see how people would think it weird for a little boy to be named this, though.

I am not a huge fan of the feminine version, [name_f]Camille[/name_f]. It feels a little dated to me. However, I do think that [name_f]Kamille[/name_f] for a male is both distinctive and unique (but not so unique it is awkward).

I’m REALLY fond of [name_f]Carmiel[/name_f] and [name_u]Carmel[/name_u] (the 2nd is pronounced car-[name_u]MELL[/name_u], not CAR-m’l), [name_u]Carmine[/name_u], and [name_m]Cassiel[/name_m]. So it’s not a huge jump for me.

[name_f]Kamille[/name_f] is interesting but [name_m]Khalil[/name_m] or [name_m]Kamil[/name_m] seem more intuitive. Could just be what I’m used to, I guess. I’ve known a few Khalils and I really like it.
