[name_f]Caterina[/name_f] and [name_f]Kat/name_farina are my favorites
This name and its variations are really popular where I live so I don’t exactly like it ( I know 6 [name_f]Caterina[/name_f]'s and 2 Katyusha’s )

My personal favourites are [name_f]Katharina[/name_f] and [name_f]Katarina[/name_f], but I pronounce them exactly the same way. Which I know wouldn’t be the case for most English speakers (so that’s something to consider).

I like [name_f]Katarina[/name_f]. Second choice would be [name_f]Katerina[/name_f].

Like them all about the same, if in the US I wouldn’t use an h, because it will be mispronounced so much. I love [name_f]Kat[/name_f] though, everyone I’ve ever known called [name_f]Kat[/name_f] has been cool!

Luladrake. I see what you mean. We aren’t from the US but currently mainly UK based. So a name that works in English and various other languages would probably be the best…

I like [name_f]Katerina[/name_f] and [name_f]Caterina[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Katharina[/name_f] but I work with a lady whose name is spelt that way and it is constantly mispronounced or misspelt by coworkers even though she has worked there for years, so that bothers me!

Ok… that seems like a very good reason to not use one of the versions with a TH…

Also because both us prefer the hard “t” pronunciation…

So… it’s, basically between [name_f]Catarina[/name_f], [name_f]Caterina[/name_f], [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] and [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]. To me personally they have connotations of different nationalities. [name_f]Caterina[/name_f] is for example quite Italian imo, whereas the K versions are more [name_m]German[/name_m]-ish or Nordic (or transcriptions of names written in other alphabets).

Which nationality do you relate the most to? There’s your answer! I think of [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] [name_m]Stratford[/name_m] from 10 Things I Hate About You, so I like that spelling. I tend to prefer C to K though, so I’d probably use [name_f]Catarina[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Cat[/name_f]. I’m sure [name_f]Kat[/name_f] is more common than [name_f]Cat[/name_f] and it’d be misspelled but I think it’s super cute spelled that way.

Well… we’re uk based so the name has to work in English (which [name_f]Catarina[/name_f] and [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] both do).

I grew up in the [name_m]German[/name_m] part of Switzerland but a large part of my family immigrated from [name_f]Italy[/name_f], I speak Italian etc… My spouse has no Italian connection.

I really prefer [name_f]Catarina[/name_f] (and I agree, [name_f]Cat[/name_f] is an adorable nickname. And cats are awesome creatures) but [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] is much more popular in the UK, which makes me think that [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] would be better/lead to less spelling mistakes and my OH definitely favours [name_f]Katarina[/name_f]/[name_f]Katerina[/name_f]…

I agree. The Cath/Kath will lead to the English th. Which we don’t want…

I myself prefer [name_f]Catarina[/name_f] (currently my favourite) but I’d also be ok with [name_f]Caterina[/name_f] / [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] / [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]. All 3 are nice names :slight_smile: at least we nowadays have a list with names both of us could agree to… (insert sigh)
