I love the classic name [name]Kate[/name] but hubby wants something longer and we can call her [name]Kate[/name]. I’m not a fan of [name]Katelyn[/name] but I kinda like [name]Katelan[/name] (funny how a change of spelling can make u like a name. I really don’t like the nickname [name]Katie[/name]. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would say [name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name].
Good [name]Luck[/name]
- [name]Charlie[/name]
Most (pretty much all!) of these are a bit more exotic and unusual, but they can shorten to [name]Kate[/name]:
[name]Catalina[/name]
[name]Catriona[/name]
[name]Caitriona[/name]
[name]Ekaterina[/name]
Kateri
[name]Katerina[/name]
[name]Kathleen[/name]
[name]Katinka[/name]
As for [name]Katelan[/name], I prefer the original [name]Caitlin[/name].
[name]Katharina[/name]? [name]Catharina[/name]?
I don’t like [name]Katelan[/name] though sorry. And although my sisters name is [name]Caitlyn[/name] and I love it, I’d stay away from any variation of that name now because it has become so popular!
[name]Katelan[/name] looks terribly misspelled, especially if you mean it to be pronounced as kate-lin. I would pronounce [name]Katelan[/name] [name]CAT[/name]-uh-lan (the a in the last syllable sounding like the word land without the d).
All things considered, [name]Katherine[/name] is a much stronger choice than any [name]Caitlin[/name] variant.
I’d vote for [name]Katherine[/name], but I remember from reading “Kiss the Girls” that [name]Kate[/name] was a nickname for Katelya. Never heard that one before.
[name]Alexis[/name]
I like [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Kathleen[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are beautiful classics you could shorten to [name]Kate[/name] without a problem!
I literally cant count the number of [name]Kailyn[/name]/[name]Katelyn[/name]/[name]Kaitlin[/name]/[name]Caitlyn[/name]/Caitlins et al. that I have met in my life time. It has to be one of the most over used names where Im from. I would suggest something more classical and timeless like [name]Katherine[/name] (or [name]Kathryn[/name]). [name]Katrina[/name], [name]Katarina[/name], [name]Katia[/name], and [name]Katina[/name] could work too.
I love the name [name]Katherine[/name]. It’s so classic and it’s not super popular or trendy like the million different spellings of [name]Katelyn[/name]/[name]Caitlin[/name]/[name]Caitlyn[/name]/etc. Another traditional option would be [name]Kathleen[/name], which I really like personally. [name]Katelan[/name] does look misspelled to me, unfortunately. If [name]Katherine[/name] is too traditional/simple for you, there are a ton of international versions you could go for. Some great ones are:
[name]Catalina[/name]
[name]Katarina[/name]
[name]Catriona[/name] (pronounced like [name]Katrina[/name])
[name]Katia[/name]
[name]Katalin[/name]
[name]Katrien[/name]
Thank you for all your suggestions. The more I looked at [name]Katelan[/name], the more all of you were right. Thanks!
[name]How[/name] do you pronounce Katelya, like Kaitla?
[name]Katrina[/name]? [name]Katia[/name]?
Can’t go wrong with [name]Katherine[/name], and I LOVED [name]Katrina[/name] until the hurricane, but that might be an issue…
I can’t stand any spelling of [name]Caitlin[/name] other then the traditional way. It’s my first daughter’s name and I had to fight DH tooth and nail to get the proper spelling (he wanted [name]Katelyn[/name] /ralph). I love [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Kathleen[/name] (although I love the “C” spellings more but [name]Kate[/name] looks better with a “K” [name]IMO[/name]). [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Katya[/name]/[name]Katia[/name], [name]Katerina[/name], [name]Katrina[/name] or [name]Katrin[/name]? What about [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] (only see the twin or is this open to the new generation yet?)? I honestly think just naming her [name]Kate[/name] would be lovely as well!! I don’t think it’s plain at all especially with the pretty name “[name]Jane[/name]” making a come back! Good luck!!
