Katell

I can’t use it, sadly, but I’ve just rediscovered this name and remembered how much I like it!

What do you think of [name_f]Katell[/name_f]? Would anyone use it?

[name_m]How[/name_m] is it pronounced?

I’m not sure on it if it’s [name_f]Kate[/name_f]-ell (emphasis on first syllable) but if it’s more like [name_f]Kat[/name_f]-ell (emphasis on the last syllable) or kuh-tell I quite like it.

It has a sort of familiar yet unknown feel to it - not too out there but intriguing

I believe it’s “CAH-tell” (more accurate here)

I think people would pronounce it like cattle.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f]-[name_f]Kate[/name_f] would be better.

It looks like a weird name smush of [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] to me. I realize it is a legitimate name, but I don’t think it would be great in an English speaking context for reasons PPs have already identified.

I would say it like kuh-TELL, with the emphasis on the second syllable. With the emphasis on the first syllable, it just sounds like cattle or coddle to me (because I’m American and don’t emphasize the difference between my Ts and Ds lol).

The d/t thing and “cattle” had honestly never occurred to me! Hmm.

Not a fan of double names like [name_f]Ella[/name_f]-[name_f]Kate[/name_f], I’m afraid.

I think its very interesting! It reminds me of a name I’d see in a fantasy book.
I agree that there might be a lot of pronunciation issues, unfortunately. It is pretty, though.

I don’t like it. It sounds like “cattle” and “cat tail.”

I love [name_f]Katell[/name_f]! Thank you so much for introducing me to it – it’s going on my long list.

I wouldn’t use it personally but I think it’s such a cool mix between a surname name and parts of traditional first names. It fits into the surname name trend but has similarities to [name_f]Kat[/name_f]- names and -el/elle names too so would be a great option for someone wanting a modern sounding name that isn’t too out there

Makes me think of the wacky K-tel record commercials from the 1970’s and '80’s. I would not want that name.
