Katinka

A friend of mine is considering the name [name]Katinka[/name] for her first born. What do you think?

I think it’s absolutely adorable, but I’m not sure how well it would age. I’m not sure if I can imagine an adult [name]Katinka[/name].

I think it sounds dinky, something about the tink sounds off and bothers me. Much prefer Kitra or [name]Katalina[/name].

I really love [name]Katerina[/name]/[name]Katarina[/name] and most variants of [name]Katharine[/name], but I think I would use [name]Katinka[/name] as a nickname, not a full formal name. That said, I really love [name]Ekaterina[/name] and [name]Katja[/name]/[name]Katia[/name] so I can’t really grump about difficult variations.

With the increasing popularity of [name]Annika[/name] I could see [name]Katinka[/name] becoming more popular but the -ka suffix isn’t my favourite thing, personally.

Someone above said they couldn’t imagine [name]Katinka[/name] aging well, but I only know a thirty year old with this name and can’t imagine it on a baby!
Like someone else posted, I much prefer [name]Katerina[/name] or [name]Katherine[/name], even [name]Katia[/name].
I don’t like the tink part in the middle either…

It’s very sweet, if she’s Swedish.

I posted a little while ago that a childhood friend of mine was [name]Tara[/name] [name]Katinka[/name] (British/Aussie pn [name]Tah[/name]-ra, not Tair-uh), which I was always a little jealous of, I thought that it was such a cool name then & I still do now.

I still love [name]Katinka[/name], but to me it is better as a mn, which I think can be more frivolous.

[name]How[/name] is it pn? It looks pretty but not sure if I’m saying it right…

Its pretty, but feels like a nickname to me because of the inka sound.

Ooh, I love it in the middle! I can completely see why you’d be jealous of that. [name]Tara[/name] [name]Katinka[/name] is awesome.

I think immediately of the crazy woman on Zoolander.
