What do you guys think about the name Katsyn (‘s’ is sibilant, not like a ‘z’)?
Nay, i would pronounce it like cat-sin… which dosnt have nice imagery or sound to me.
Nay.
I dislike the shape and sound of the name. It has the feel of two syllables randomly being smooshed together.
I’d like to suggest Catrin, Katrin, Korin, Caislin [CASH-lin], and Corinne as somewhat similar alternatives.
A no for me. I am not enjoying the arrangement of letters nor the jarring sound, particularly in the -syn ending. I too think it looks extremely tryndee. I also want to add ‘dogs’ to the end of it (cats 'n dogs) as silly as that may seem…
It feel pointy, both visually and aurally. Not a fan.
I agree with this.
Sounds cute, I gave my niece a [name_f]Kat[/name_f] name - I think I’d like it better spelled Katsun or Katson.
It sounds like a sentence - ‘cat’s in’. Not ideal.
A no for me on so many levels. The trendy K- feeling, the unnecessary Y, the unattractive look and sound. I’d recommend Catsun or Catson but I’m not sure they’re entirely much better.
Nope.
It feels both masculine and trendy.
No. K names are out of style as long as Kardashians exist.
This is how the name of one of the buildings at my school is pronounced, but it’s spelled Katzen which I think is nicer visually.
I am not in love with the sound or the way it looks written out.
Thanks for the suggestions, but I’ve been through most those alternatives and don’t like any. [name_f]Nor[/name_f] do I like the -lyn/-lin endings.
I really like those spelling choices! Thanks!
I don’t allow other people’s names to make my decisions for me, whether they’re people like the Kardashians or not. But thanks for your opinion.
Thank you for another spelling choice that I haven’t thought of.
And thank you everyone for your opinions. It’s a name that I made up (or at least thought I did, until this post). I really like the [name_f]Kat[/name_f] nickname, but don’t like it as just the full name, and any other variations that give the [name_f]Kat[/name_f] sound I just don’t like (or my sister has as her name - the only one I would have really liked, [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Katya[/name_f] but that’s too exotic to work I think).
I will certainly take these opinions into consideration (and then reject them - sorry. I like what I like and am not in the habit of changing my mind just because people don’t like it either).
I just wanted to get a gauge on the general feeling, which is actually less favorable then I had anticipated. But oh well.
Again, thank you all!
No. Makes me think of Cats in the cradle.
