Kaye Elizabeth

I love the idea of [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] if we have a daughter one day but I can’t decide on a middle name that I love enough for it, apart from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], which I do like, but I’m not sold on. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my mother’s name, so it’s a nice honour, but that doesn’t really come into play too much in naming for us, as my family doesn’t do honourifics unless the person being honoured is deceased (as my parents and my grandmother put it, “children should have their own name”).

[name_f]My[/name_f] son is [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] (which is an indirect honour for my late grandparents via my grandmother’s favourite film and a shared meaning with my grandfather’s name) so I’d like something with a similar vibe. I like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] as a full name but [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] feels much better suited with [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] imo as they’re both one syllable.

What middle names would you pair with [name_u]Kaye[/name_u]? Is [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] the one I should keep on my list?

Thanks!

I prefer spelling [name_u]Kay[/name_u] because the E E thing bothers me, but ignoring that it goes perfectly with [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]!

I like [name_u]Kaye[/name_u]! I’ve always found Kay(e) underrated and am a little surprised it hasn’t picked up any steam now that similar vintage names are back in style. There’s something quite elegant and unexpected about the spelling with an e. I also think [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] goes really nicely with [name_u]Rhett[/name_u] - simple, midcentury but not out of fashion.

[name_u]Kaye[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is really nice and solid. I also think [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] [name_f]Annette[/name_f] from your UC is sweet and spunky.

Keeping with a midcentury yet modern theme…

[name_u]Kaye[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is lovely, but if your parents think kids should have their own name, I wouldn’t use it in this case.

Thank you! I contemplated the Kay spelling but it just looks incomplete to me, where as Kaye feels like a name, if that makes sense?

@AStudyIn_Scarlet Thank you! I do like Kate, Caroline, Eliza, Audrey, Grace, Claire, Betty, Vivienne, Dorothy, Louise, and Lillian!

I agree - I’ve always felt Kaye needs some more love! And thank you, I’m glad they give a midcentury vibe - I was a bit unsure with Rhett’s name but I hoped the Gone with the Wind connection lent some flexibility in style with it! Kaye Annette is really cute, I’ll keep that on my list!! Also love Kaye Alice, Kaye Christine, Kaye Florence, Kaye Jacqueline, Kaye Lucille, Kaye Margaret, Kaye Maureen, Kaye Rebecca, Kaye Annabelle, Kaye Genevieve, Kaye Isabelle, Kaye Josephine, Kaye Magnolia, Kaye Melanie (also a GOTW character so that’s a cute connection), & Kaye Savannah!

@greyblue - My mom’s already said she’s completely fine if we use her name, but it’s not directly used to honour her, if that makes sense? It’s just coincidentally a name we both like! She said as long as we both truly like it, to go ahead and use it, but not to use it for the sole purpose of honouring?

Love Kaye Felicity, Kaye Louisa, Kaye Jessica and Kaye Georgina! And thank you - I love that they’re both short and sweet!

I love [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] with [name_u]Rhett[/name_u], it fits so well! [name_f]My[/name_f] best suggestion is [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] [name_f]Lisette[/name_f], which is a diminutive of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] so it’d follow a similar pattern that [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] does.
