Keeping the Name a Secret from family and friends...but I DO need feedback!

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] Number 2 is a boy. We are keeping the name a surprise for our family and friends since gender is already known. Here are some names we are considering, any feedback is helpful.

[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] or [name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]

[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]

[name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]

[name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]

Our first son is named [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] Robison _____. We’d like the names to sound nice together, but we don’t need matchy-matchy names.

I also like [name_m]Creed[/name_m], [name_f]Honor[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_m]Able[/name_m], Merit, and Brave as middle or first names–just not sure what to do with them to move them slightly more to the center of the stream. Naming is tough. I’m a teacher, and most names have a memory of another student attached. :frowning:

I am totally in love with the name [name_u]Dean[/name_u] right now. I’m not sure I love it with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m], but I think it is an awesome, underused name. From your list, my top three (in order) are

  1. [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
  2. [name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
  3. [name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]

You can’t go wrong with any of your top 4. I like:

[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]

I vote [name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]!

[name_m]Graham[/name_m] Sheperd!

I like [name_m]Harris[/name_m] best, but for no particular reason. I also like [name_m]Graham[/name_m], and [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. Not a big fan of [name_u]Reid[/name_u], but it does sound good with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] so it could be a good choice for your family.

Congratulations on the news.

I love [name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. Very masculine and grows with him. I also [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]. [name_u]Reid[/name_u] is on my boys list, and I find it to be incredibly handsome, strong, and it’s not very common but it isn’t too “out there”.

You really can not go wrong. These are all great names! [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] is actually on my list!

[name_u]Reid[/name_u] is really lovely with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m], but I think my favorite is [name_m]Harris[/name_m].

[name_f]My[/name_f] only hesitation with [name_m]Harris[/name_m] (that I have been battling with myself), is that it can sound a bit like heiress (even with the silent “h”). I am trying to convince myself that it is just me haha.

From your combs I would say [name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u] is my favorite.

[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] feels outdoorsy. [name_u]Reid[/name_u] would be a nice fit, but it is more common to see than [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]. I really like [name_m]Abel[/name_m] because it is rarely chosen, but appealing. [name_f]Honor[/name_f] is nice too.I’m not too fond of the other names with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m].

[name_m]Moses[/name_m]
[name_m]Lief[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustine[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_m]Zebulon[/name_m] * I know a man named this that goes by [name_m]Zeb[/name_m]. Amazingly cool name all around.

I really really like what you’ve got going on…so many solid options.

[name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] is my favorite

[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] and [name_u]Reid[/name_u] are a little close thematically, a thatcher sometimes uses reeds, but they do sound nice together and I don’t think most people will see the connection. I think [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Shepard[/name_m] is my personal favorite with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] Robison. [name_u]Dean[/name_u] and [name_m]Harris[/name_m] are also great names. [name_u]Dean[/name_u] doesn’t fit as well as a “set” and is a little dated but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker. [name_m]Harris[/name_m] does sound really nice and goes well with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] but I’m personally a little wary of the nickname [name_m]Harry[/name_m] which is pronounced the same as hairy in my accent.

I love Merit though! I really want to convince you to use that one as a first. Though I admit it isn’t the best match as a sibset.

[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] is such a great name and I think it works really well with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]!

I think [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] would sound better with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] as well as the middle name options. But [name_m]Graham[/name_m] would be my first choice for you.

I love [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], too. But, our last name is [name_m]Ford[/name_m]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_m]Harris[/name_m] is cutting it close as far as celebrity associations go.

A lot of you seem to like combinations with [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. I like that because it has some solid meaning to it. It’s also just cool. This has been so much help! I like them all. That’s the issue…

[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]

Those are my front runners at this point, I guess. That is, until hubby weighs in.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] as a first name? I think [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] and [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] are the best fit. I really like your other name choices (great taste!) but [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] is quite uncommon and the rest are far more common.

[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Harris[/name_m] is my vote.

I really like [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Shephard[/name_m].

[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] or [name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]

Of these I like [name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Harris[/name_m] best… But and first let me say
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] Robison is a wonderful name! And congratulations on a second son! We also reveal gender but not name ( makes people crazy but its smart too since revealing it doesn’t make them less crazy just less free to get involved in an unwelcome way. Also 2 of your picks are at the top of our list for future babies, top of our first name list and let me tell you there are more names on your list than ours so lol good name choices really really . Naming is hard and I feel like you’ve got a great list to work with here! You’ve got about a dozen picks so I’m
Confident 2 can be combined perfectly for you!

[name_m]Harris[/name_m] - I like but I have a hard time saying it then a middle then last, I see it more as a middle or last name… However I really like it as a first name just have a hard time with my accent with flow. I
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] - always good , a family friends son is called [name_u]Dean[/name_u] and I always thought it was strong, my preferences push it toward a middle name but just because I love the way that sounds… Pretty much anything [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. ts single syllable so needs to be paired with a 2-4 syllable name
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] - I know a family with this surname which make me feel like its a a surname but that’s just because of spending summers with themD it is a legitimate and good first name, another 1 syllable name
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] - I knew a boy called [name_m]Graham[/name_m] as a child, another single syllable pick how I pronounce it
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]- again this one is good, naturey and another short one which honestly
I like one syllable names.
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] - good Espescially if you are religious or live in the country.
[name_m]Creed[/name_m]- this I like too. Again if you are religious or have specific strong beliefs. A family I know of has a son [name_m]Creed[/name_m] who is small and darling. Another short name.
[name_f]Honor[/name_f] - 2 syllables which you need to get a combination here , I knew a girl honor but have thought it could be a boys name
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]- great name , short, strong, good meaning, needs a good long combination
[name_m]Able[/name_m] - 2 syllables!!! I really like this, I used to be partial to [name_m]Abel[/name_m] but with [name_m]Able[/name_m] you get more out of it and remove the Biblical downside of the name
Merit- 2 syllables I love the virtue of it, to me its a middle name option because Merit I worry is very close to [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Merry[/name_f] I I don’t want that to end up a nn
Brave- this one I really like because it has the modern sound [name_f]Ave[/name_f], very popular but also very different and very very soild .

Here are your 2 syllable names, I would say either combine 2 or or use one single syllable and a 2 syllable. Since your first son has a 2 syllable followed by a 3 you’d be safe with a shorter name followed by a longer or a 2 syllable followed by anything, neither too matchy with your picks and you’d have a bit of safe similarity.
[name_m]Able[/name_m]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_m]Shephard[/name_m]
[name_f]Honor[/name_f]
Merit
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] ( depending on pronunciation)

Single syllable names~
Brave
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_m]Creed[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] ( depending)

So avoid combining them with double initials lile GG and avoid starting middle names like first names end and avoid rymey names and avoid anything that sounds like ‘something’ like Brave [name_m]Shephard[/name_m] … Great name but you probably can’t get away with it. As I’m sure you know combining this type of name is a little on the tough side… I’m
Going to post this then see what I can come up with combinations wise not knowing your last name.

So any of your combos are good
Here are just some ideas based on my own preferences and making sure their aren’t conflicts. Some you might see as first names that I don’t obviously try them too
[name_m]Able[/name_m] [name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_m]Able[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
able [name_u]Dean[/name_u] ( able I can’t see as a middle because then you get names like …[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Able[/name_m] … harrisable… Harassable)
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] Brave
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] Merit ?

Ditto, I think [name_u]Dean[/name_u], [name_m]Graham[/name_m] & [name_m]Harris[/name_m] are all great options. [name_m]Harris[/name_m] I think matches best style-wise with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] but I prefer [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m] matches well enough so [name_m]Graham[/name_m] would be my top choice. [name_u]Dean[/name_u] doesn’t quite match with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] but it’s such a great name it would be a shame not to consider it.

LOL…[name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_u]Reid[/name_u] are my parents’ original surnames (w/varied spelling). Guess I’m not objective. I thought you might like to consider [name_m]Quest[/name_m], as it seems to match your style.

If your last name is [name_m]Ford[/name_m]… [name_m]Just[/name_m] reading some comments now, be careful of names that end the same way [name_u]Reid[/name_u] [name_m]Ford[/name_m] is 2 single syllable names ending in D, not bad just you see what I’m saying.
[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]ReiD[/name_u] [name_m]ForD[/name_m]
graham [name_m]ShepheRD[/name_m] [name_m]FoRD[/name_m]
That’s worth just being aware of.

[name_m]Harris[/name_m] [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] [name_m]Ford[/name_m] is better [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_f]HonOR[/name_f] [name_m]FORd[/name_m] ? Tough tough I see what you’re saying… Hmm
