Kelly as a MN...too surname-y?

Is [name]Kelly[/name] too surname-y to be a MN? I asked my mom what she thought of the combo [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Kelly[/name], and she didn’t like it. The thing is, [name]Kelly[/name] was my mom’s maiden name, so I guess she’s more conditioned to see it as a surname. [name]Just[/name] wondering what y’all opinions were…

[name]Ginger[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] LASTNAME - good, or no?

I don’t see why not. I avoid names like [name]Jack[/name] [name]Hudson[/name] because [name]Hudson[/name] sounds like a surname… [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] sort of has that same feel but I think you could definitely use it. It would be a nice nod to your mom, too.

I just posted on your other thread about [name]Ginger[/name]… but I just need to tell you, neither name is my usual style, but I find the combo nearly swoon-worthy for some reason. I REALLY love [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Kelly[/name].

Wow! Thanks

Seeing as [name]Kelly[/name] is a family name it would be nice to include it in the middle name spot. [name]Kelly[/name] as a first name is now dated.

I think that [name]Ginger[/name] is just a nickname. What about [name]Georgia[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]? nn of [name]Gigi[/name]/[name]Ginger[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ginger[/name], and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Kelly[/name], and I [name]LOVE[/name] this combo! Fantastic!

I’m sorry to say it, but as a teen myself I can tell you without a doubt a girl named [name]Ginger[/name] would be made fun of mercilessly. For some reason, people have taken it upon themselves to use ‘ginger’ as a somewhat derogatory term for a red head.

[name]Kelly[/name] is fine as its a family name. Almost any name is acceptable in the middle spot if it honours family. I don’t like [name]Ginger[/name] at all, [name]Georgia[/name]/[name]Gemma[/name] would be much nicer and more versatile, with the nn [name]Ginger[/name].

I’m a teenager as well and know a [name]Ginger[/name] and she very rarely gets teased - the occasional comment here and there, but it’s all in good fun.
