Kelly

[name]Kelly[/name] is a family name. Would this work as a middle name for a boy in today’s world? It would be paired with something clearly masculine and underused such as [name]Aurelian[/name] (just an example).

I think pretty much anything works in the middle spot. But I’d go even more masculine and slightly more common than [name]Aurelian[/name]. Something like [name]Ezekiel[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name], depending on your taste, of course.

Yes, I think [name]Kelly[/name] can easily work on a boy.

I’d love to meet a boy named [name]Kelly[/name], but if I myself were a boy, I would probably hate to be a [name]Kelly[/name]. Middle names are a bit more flexible though, and since they are so rarely used, I think it would work. He will probably still hate it, but he won’t have to be too embarrassed of it since it will rarely be revealed. As a name nerd, I think it’s fantastic.

My 15 year old brother is named [name]Kelly[/name] after [name]Kelly[/name] [name]Slater[/name]. It suits him and he gets called Kel…but Smelly by his friends, which he doesn’t seem to mind surprisingly!

I just asked him what he thinks of it…his response “I love it, because people remember me. No one ever meets any other boys named [name]Kelly[/name].”

All in all, it hasn’t caused any problems for him. Personally, I think it would be a fabulous middle name considering it has family significance.

[name]Mim[/name].

I’m a [name]Kelly[/name], and I’ve always thought that [name]Kelly[/name] was a very handsome name for a boy. The [name]Kelly[/name] fellows I have met have all been handsome, in a dark and sparkling kind of way. Roguish and playful.

Anything (or maybe nearly anything) goes as a middle name. I don’t think [name]Kelly[/name] would cause any problems at all.

[name]Kelly[/name] is one of those names I’d love to see revived for boys. It’s so handsome.

I second this (and I am a male [name]Kelly[/name] myself)!

@namefan, it doesn’t get better than to hear from a male [name]Kelly[/name] and get the go ahead! Thanks!

@alzora, yes the name nerd in me loves traditional male names ([name]Ashley[/name], [name]Lauren[/name], [name]Kelly[/name]) and is mad they went to the girls!

@mim, thank you for asking your brother! I love his answer! Such a great perspective!

Well I’m convinced it would make a great middle but I won’t bother trying to get DH onboard until there is a reason!
