Wondering what folks think of [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]? I’ve certainly never known anyone with the name, but I do find myself drawn to it despite its starting initial.
I like [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m], though not so much [name_m]Ken[/name_m]. I prefer [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] because it has no egotistical Branagh associations.
I also love [name_u]Elm[/name_u] as a nickname, because it sounds so strong and yet soft.
[name_m]Elmer[/name_m] for quaintness and [name_m]Elmo[/name_m] for fun.
Of course there’s always the risk of a [name_m]Kenny[/name_m] nickname, which to me is almost as ugly as [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] for [name_m]Charles[/name_m].
Maybe better as a middle name. [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]. [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]. [name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]. [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]. [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m]. Something along those lines. I like the fact that [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] is different but not weird.
I think [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] is the kind of name that would cause most people to do a double-take, it’s so unbelievably unexpected! (I was so surprised seeing the thread title!)
It’s kind of cool! I hate [name_m]Ken[/name_m] with a passion though! [name_u]Elm[/name_u] and [name_m]Elmo[/name_m] are adorable, but I can’t do [name_m]Ken[/name_m] or [name_m]Kenny[/name_m], just not at all…
I like it better in the middle, and although it’s not my style [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] works. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] doesn’t [name_f]IMO[/name_f] because of the back-to-back K sounds…
I don’t think it’s one I’d add to my own lists, but I would think it was cool if I met a 4 year old named [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m].
I’ve never heard of this name, but I really like the looks of it. Although, I’d pronounce it more with a silent L. It comes out forced when I try to say -elm, but maybe that’s just me? [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] is awesome.
If you really cannot stand [name_m]Ken[/name_m] and [name_m]Kenny[/name_m], I would not use [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] as a first. Your son may very well have different nn ideas than you.
FWIW, I think it sounds nicer in the middle anyway. [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] is my favorite.
Yeah, I agree about the middle spot. And [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Kenelm[/name_m] is my favorite too, as [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] is a family name.
