Keren ??

I am looking for a name with E and R in it, can not start with N, S, E, H, Y or A, can not end E, H, Y or A

[name]Keren[/name] is now on our list and as our two children have E and R in their first names we would like to keep the theme going. They also have Hebrew names, which [name]Keren[/name] is.

So my question is - What do you think of [name]Keren[/name]??? We are saying it Care-n.

FYI DH has already crossed of [name]Keryn[/name], Kerin, [name]Karen[/name], [name]Caren[/name]. No we are not locked into K names but we seem to be a tad drawn to them this time

I prefer the spelling [name]Karen[/name].

I love [name]Keren[/name]! It’s one of my favourite names, it means ray of light which makes me happy! I pronounce it KER-en.

Some other pretty hebrew names:
Irit
Lior/[name]Liorit[/name]
Liron
[name]Marni[/name]
[name]Ori[/name]
[name]Vered[/name]

They’re different names, like [name]Emilia[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name]

There was a [name]Keren[/name] in my class for a while in school, who said it Keh-rin. I quite like the name, and the possible nn [name]Kerry[/name]/[name]Keri[/name], though she was a bit of a chav so I do see it as a slightly chavvy name.

I like the name–my hesitation would be that she’d constantly have to correct spelling.

[name]Rachel[/name] and [name]Peri[/name] are the only alternatives that I can come up with that meet your criteria.

I thought of Kateri too which fits the letter criteria but not the origin requirement. All the ones I came up with either started or ended with one of the no-no letters.

I like [name]Kerensa[/name] better than [name]Keren[/name], but if no A endings, then [name]Keren[/name] is nice.

These start with K’s! Forgot about that earlier…

Katriel
Kineret
[name]Koren[/name]

I know a [name]Keren[/name] but it is pronoucned as Keh-ren/Keh-run, like [name]Seren[/name] is Seh-ren/Seh-run.

Although I guess this is like the difference between pronunciations in [name]Clara[/name], [name]Tara[/name], [name]Cara[/name] etc. In the UK the initial sounds all rhyme with Car and have a short sound as opposed to Care-a/[name]Clair[/name]-uh… hope this makes sense lol. What I’m basically trying to say is in the UK [name]Keren[/name] has two short sounds.

Yep  This.

[name]Keren[/name] sounds too similar to [name]Karen[/name]. Maybe [name]Cerys[/name]?

I’d say it Keh-rehn, that’s how the Hebrew word/name is said.

Want to plug one of my favorite undiscovered Hebrew names, which @ottilie mentioned.

Katriel. It means “God is my crown.” It has an e and an r and doesn’t start or end with the forbidden letters. It’s got a beautiful, feminine sound and no concerns with mispelling. I’d love to see it used in real life!

I really like this suggestion. While [name]Keren[/name] is most likely far older than [name]Karen[/name], [name]Karen[/name] is how people will default the spelling. I have to correct people on the spelling of my first and last names and it gets annoying.

I think it’s pretty, but I could see the potential of it being mispronounced as [name]Karen[/name], which in Hebrew is actually spelled Charen. It has a beautiful meaning as well.

I also really like the biblical names Kinah and [name]Keturah[/name].

Oh, I like this a lot.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Keren[/name], though I’ve always heard it said “keh-ren,” which I prefer. Absolutely love that it means “ray of light!”

[name]Love[/name] your names in your signiture, my two sons names are in you top names

Katriel is GORGEOUS.

It doesn’t start with a “K” but my beloved “[name]Wren[/name]” follows your other rules. (my darn husband isn’t into it.)

I love [name]Marni[/name] but I have a friend [name]Marni[/name] and dont want to clash. I want our littl one to have her own unique style without being weird.

And yes as someone said above, I love old names [name]Keren[/name] is much older than [name]Karen[/name]. DH will not have a bar of [name]Karen[/name] and I have to agree its too plain for what we are after

As for spelling her name. SH and I constantly have to spell our first and last names, me my middle name also. We are not really bothered by it, the thing is there are so many spellings for evey name now that its becoming the norm. [name]Both[/name] our sons will need to spell their names when they get older too, even though one has a classic ‘normal’ name and the other has a classic ‘uncommon’ hebrew name. It doesn’t worry me really as long as it is the traditional spelling. I hate seeing [name]Luci[/name], its [name]Lucy[/name]!!, I hate seeing [name]Emilee[/name], [name]Emilie[/name] etc, its [name]Emily[/name] etc. JMHOT
