Kerianne? Am I just in a haze now or is it surprisingly cute?

Two weeks to go and no closer to a girls name. I THINK we have settled on [name_m]Callum[/name_m] for a boy but I don’t want to jinx myself. I’ve been all over the map with my posts about different names, and I guess I’m just still at it! This one struck me for a few reasons… I originally wanted an Irish name and always thought [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] was kind of short, sweet and underused. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love it visually though- looks more male to me. I’ve also had a thing for names that end in -[name_f]Anne[/name_f]… I find them charming ([name_f]Leanne[/name_f], [name_u]Julianne[/name_u], etc). I don’t know what led me to Kerianne today but something did and I’m wondering what your thoughts are? I’ve been on the site long enough to know it is not what most Berries would choose- myself, included! But I’ve become much more open minded this time around and wanted to try this one out on you:) Thanks!

You should do what makes you happy.

Kerianne would not make me happy, but it is not terrible like [name_f]Bloodrayne[/name_f], [name_f]Braelynn[/name_f], or Abugayle.

It just sounds made-up and looks misspelled. But in truth, there are so many kids named names that seem to be made-up and misspelled that it probably would not stand out in a negative way.

[name_f]Kerria[/name_f] is a beautiful, old-fashioned shrub with lovely yellow flowers every spring. [name_m]Keir[/name_m] for a boy is nice too, very Irish sounding.

[name_f]Happy[/name_f] hunting and I love [name_m]Callum[/name_m].

It looks invented, though it is true that there are plenty of -anne names. What about a hyphenated version? i.e. [name_f]Kerri[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f]? Looks less made-up.
But if you like it, don’t give it up just because most Berries dislike it. It’s quite far from the worst invented/differently spelled name I’ve ever seen.
Good luck.

It’s a bit dated. I went to school with a Kerianne in the 80’s.

I agree with rkrd. It’s quite dated.

My name is [name_f]Kerri[/name_f]-[name_f]Ann[/name_f] and I haven’t met too many young or old. At least it’s not another [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or some other poor ridiculous name. I get K-A as nn now but growing up it was kez or kezza. I have always had to spell my name but what kid doesn’t these days.

I love the meaning of both [name_u]Kerry[/name_u] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and together they work well.

It sounds dated and is a little too country for me. I love [name_m]Callum[/name_m], though, and [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] is very pretty.

It’s made up, yes. But I do find it’s cute. I like it when it said out loud, but not really when written on a paper. Guess I’m neutral about it, I prefer [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].

Oh, my. I didn’t really realize it was made up to be honest. I thought it was an established “smoosh name” like [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]. Dated doesn’t bother me, and neither does spelling problems as long as it doesn’t appear I went the “creative” route. I do appreciate the suggestion of [name_f]Kerri[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] and it was nice to hear from someone with the name! I still prefer Kerianne as one name with the nn [name_f]Keri[/name_f], but not sure if I can add it yo the list if I’m making it up. I don’t even know what that list is anymore, oh brother! Thanks for the help

I also went to school with a Kerianne in the 80s. Although it’s not my taste, what concerns me is that it doesn’t seem to “go” with [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_u]Julianne[/name_u], [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]. I get that it’s the same in sound to the other girls’ names, but to me it is a different style entirely.

You should go with what you love, but I think I am always wary of name regret as I’ve lived it

I think of an Australian TV host she’d be in her 60’s maybe? Its very dated to me

I love it! And I think more importantly, you love it too! It’s soft and sweet and definitely Irish. And I think the -anne makes it a little unexpected.

I hate when people say names are dated because ten years ago [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] was “dated” and now every other girl is an [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]! Also, you obviously didn’t make it up if other posters know someone with that name!
