Hmm. I really like both! I guess it really depends on what your last name is, but I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
I also really like both but prefer [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] slightly better.
I voted for [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] but what about [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]?
I know it’s the original spelling but living in the US, I would probably go with [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]. People would probably always pronounce it wrong if I used [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]. Makes me so sad… just like I love [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] but can’t really use it here because no one would know how to pronounce it.
Oooh, I am so torn! I really like the look and sound of [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], but I like the contrast between [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], too! I think I prefer [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] here. (I, too, am sad that [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] doesn’t work here! But if [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] Hinds can wear it, why not?) [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] would be easier, but I like [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] more.
[name_m]How[/name_m] come [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] doesn’t work in the US? I have always been confused by this because I can’t think of another way to pronounce it!
Most people likely wouldn’t know how to pronounce it. I imagine people who have no idea how to say it would try pronouncing it ways like see-ar-an or see-air-an. The more common/known spelling here is [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]. Last year, 465 little boys were named [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] and only 58 were named [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]. I mostly compare it to the name [name_f]Ciara[/name_f]… even though see-air-uh isn’t the correct Irish pronunciation, that’s how almost everyone in my area pronounces it so I predict people using that as a guide and butchering the pronunciation sadly.
Friends of ours just used the name [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] and I love it. They chose J0n@h as his middle after dad. I really like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] too but I think [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] is less expected.
Really?! This shocked me because I am fairly sure most people here would know how to pronounce it (I have known a few Ciarans and Ciaras who have never had any problem). I would never have thought of pronouncing the c like an s. I would find it easier to understand if it was spelt with a fada and the intention was for it to be pronounced [name_m]Keer[/name_m]-awn.
Anyway, it’s sad. The [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] spelling is, to me, much nicer ![]()
I have no idea how to even begin pronouncing Saiorse.
I would pronounce [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] like See + [name_f]Erin[/name_f].
I like [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] better than [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
I prefer [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] and totally agree with you as a fellow Midwesterner that you would have major pronunciation problems if you used [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]. But I like the spelling with a “K” better anyway.
[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] is seer-sha. See-[name_f]Erin[/name_f] is exactly what I think everyone would say if I spelled it [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] living in the midwest haha. I’ll stick with [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] ![]()
